Twinfinite Writes: Despite the beginning of the year usually being slow, 2017 has already seen a number of title release that have a serious shot at GOTY.
Since its release in 2016, the "Persona 5" series has won numerous game awards around the world and received enthusiastic support from everyone, with cumulative sales of over 10 million units worldwide.
Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."
I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.
but still considered the best of the seties.
i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.
25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.
Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.
In the world of video games, there’s no genre quite as notoriously difficult to get into as the Turn-Based RPG. Lets review a few RPGs you can play if you’ve tried the biggest and best in turn-based combat and never found it appealing.
Sea of stars while seeming pretty good so far doesn't belong in the top rpg discussion. There's way better ones. I'd tell them to play star ocean 2. One of the best non turn based rpgs ever. It has everything.
The Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, or the Shadow Hearts games has decent enjoyable turn based combat system.
What a year it's been so far. As of right now my GOTY is Persona 5 with BoTW being a very close second. Haven't beaten either game yet so my opinion could change, but right now those two stand out as the top competitiors imo.
Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5 and Breath of the Wild are three GOTY contenders. Glad to be gamer.
I'd love to see Persona 5 take it... Just the audacity of giving GOTY to a JRPG with essentially PS3 graphics would be glorious. I think it's the kind of shakeup that the industry really needs.
And I think it truly deserves the win. It has a great story, interesting characters and fun gameplay all in a package that will keep you playing for weeks if not months.
My current GOTY is Nier Automata...... It's simply the best undiluted piece of art work I have seen in long time....
My GOTY currently is Tales of Berseria. Such an amazing game. The story and characters were fantastic and had me hooked from beginning to end.
