Console Repairmen Explain Why Cockroaches Love PS4s

First, there were snakes on a plane. Then, we had sharks in tornadoes. Now, there is a darker and more prevalent combination of pests and unlikely places they exist: cockroaches in your PS4.

Majin-vegeta2960d ago

Even cockroaches know the better console😂

naruga2959d ago (Edited 2959d ago )

i read this before ...is this somekind of downpaly articles for PS4?....everything with the same properties in your house can be roach nest if you r filthy person..no need to be a PS4 console.....as pS4 obliterates competition , imo Kotaku is diving more and more in sh%t (like many famous gaming sites nowdays)

TheUndertaker852959d ago (Edited 2959d ago )

@naruga: "The PS4’s design accommodates roaches better than other consoles’ because its ventilation grates are wider. Those vents are located at the bottom of the console, so roaches can get in with ease. Also, according to repair professionals, the PS4’s insides gets hotter than the Xbox One’s because of its internal power supply. Warm, in an enclosed space and close to the floor, PS4s are great roach nesting grounds."

Yes. Downplay. Even though it can be explained why roaches prefer PS4. Then not one but two companies.

"Roach-infested PS4s are a big problem. Especially because Sony won’t take them in for repairs (Sony did not provide comment)."

mikeslemonade2958d ago

Or you can make the case that Sony purposely allowed the bigger vent to be made so the systems can break down quicker but make it seem slower; forcing people to buy multiple systems after the first one breaks.

2pacalypsenow2958d ago

@mikeslemonade

I'm sure it had nothing to do with better airflow, it must be a conspiracy. The bigger problem here is people having roaches in their homes.

andrewsquall2958d ago (Edited 2958d ago )

@mikeslemonade You are clearly thinking of the 360 and last gen. PS3 came out a year later than 360 and STILL got their Slim console out a year before Microsoft did. Its even more hilarious because the 360 needed its slim revision a week after it came out in 2005.

Honestly, find any hardcore 360 fan you know and they will tell you they have purchased AT LEAST 3 360 consoles before Summer 2010 when the Slim 360 launched (and they bought that one too).

""Roach-infested PS4s are a big problem. Especially because Sony won’t take them in for repairs".

Or you can make the case that I don't know a single person that had a PS4 break down on them yet, I very doubt you do yourself either.

TheUndertaker852958d ago (Edited 2958d ago )

@andrewsquall: I do. My Aunt purchased a PS4 for her children for Christmas. Upon opening it Christmas Day and setting it up the system displayed a flashing blue light.

While I convinced her to look at PS4 since I had one. She returned the faulty unit and exchanged it for a Xbox One. I couldn't blame her as I'd be upset too thinking I'd got my kids a great gift only to find out it doesn't even work coming out of the box.

Im sure though an issue Sony even has listed in support shows that nothing has or can happen to the Kryptonite version PS4 you claim to sport. /s

BadElf2958d ago

@naruga
Its a common thought that having roaches means you're a dirty person.
You could have a clean house...and still have roaches.

TheUndertaker852958d ago

@BadElf: Exactly. Cockroaches identify three things when finding their preferred environment.

1) Warmth
2) Food
3) Water

Just like many other species. They want to survive. They don't care where so long as their needs are met in one way or the other.

dauntingpixel2959d ago

if you have an issues with cockroaches getting into your PS4, you have other pretty big freaking issues with cleanliness or you should should consider moving.

nitus102958d ago (Edited 2958d ago )

It may come as a shock to you but cockroaches have wings and they are pretty good fliers.

Basically, if you live near a house, apartment etc that has a cockroach infestation then at some stage you are going to get the odd cockroach in your home and since they can get in via small spaces you will have a difficult time completely stopping them.

Sure baits, traps and some ultrasonic (sort of debatable) repellents can reduce cockroaches but they won't completely stop them and if you have electronic devices on the or near the floor then it is highly likely they will get in.

desertpunk862958d ago

SELF-ENTITLED MILLENNIAL THINKS MOVING IS EASY!

zuul90182958d ago

Right? Cause you can just terminate your current lease penalty free, find a new place at a reasonable rate within a day, pack all your shit, pay for a moving van or borrow a friends truck, and hook up all your stuff (water, electric, internet) in a day or two.
Im guessing most people are under 18 and live with parents (not an insult) and havent actually rented or owned their own place.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Is The Kind Of Game That Makes Me Wish I Could Play One Thing At A Time

I respect people who can dig deep on one game, and only one game, but I can't do it.

I used to play multiple games at a time but because of the time constraints I have I don’t have a choice but to play one game at a time or I’ll end up with some unfinished games. I like to get platinums for the games I enjoy the most so it can take me a long time to get to the next game.

It definitely takes some will power as I always have a stack of games I want to play at all times. But most of the games I play are really good and I am fully immersed when I’m playing a single game at a time.

raWfodog12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Same here. I’ll focus on a game that I really enjoy and get the most out of it before moving onto the next title. That is why I have a massive backlog of games now.

Armaggedon1d 6h ago (Edited 1d 6h ago )

Same for me. I play so many games, currently playing oblivion, expedition, blades of fire, bg3 with friends , avowed, and Nioh 2. After learning more about myself and gaining mastery, I have developed an ability to get fulfillment from a game without needing to “complete” it. Unless of course, a game hooks me for the story, in which case I have to complete it to see what happens. I have discovered that in terms of gameplay, one can get most if not all of the expected experience in about 25% of progress through play.

Ninver20h ago

Sounds like renting is the best way to go in your case. No point in buying games you won't complete.

Armaggedon18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

It depends on what one deems as “complete.” For some, it is completing the story, and for others it is completing all tasks and objectives. Usually when this happens, people will feel “that was fun, whats next.” There is always a whats next. Cant think of anyone that has consumed media and thought “I am completely satisfied and will not need to play or watch another. I have simply mastered this “hunger” if you will. I am able to get so far in a game and then move to another without needing to reach a certain requirement. A benefit of this is that I do not get bored, as that game I didn’t beat still has mystries to unravel and new things I haven’t done.

Onimusha 2 Remaster Faces Backlash For Reported Minor Censorship Changes

The remaster of Capcom's action-adventure game, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is facing backlash over minor changes due to censorship.

Incel outrage is one of the reasons gamers aren't taken seriously.

jambola1d 13h ago

so you're pro censorship and insult anyone who disagrees
gotcha

Flewid6381d 7h ago

Imagine not knowing that you can express discontent without raging like an incel

REDDURT1d 3h ago

Everyone is a incel who won’t fall inline.

gold_drake21h ago

no i think censoring a 18+ game is incredibly stupid.

im an adult and dont need to be coddled

CrimsonWing6921h ago

So when something gets censored, people just aren’t supposed to say anything?

We can praise a game’s violence, crude humor, or edgy writing all day, but the moment someone says a design is hot or pushes back on censorship in an M-rated game, it’s suddenly “incel outrage”?

Give me a break. If you’re posting on a gaming news site, you’re already in the same boat — you’re not above the rest of the community just because you’re uncomfortable with fanservice.

Criticizing censorship isn’t incel behavior — it’s called being a fan with standards.

jambola9h ago

you can complain if it's violence, but not skin, especially on a female character
and as we all know, small things never grow into bigger problems

MDTunkown16h ago

You know first remaster sales wasn’t great so introducing new censorship to an ancient game that would piss fans isn’t a good strategy.

guess i'll wait for a sale
can't bring myself to support censorship this much

jznrpg1d 10h ago

It’s not much of a change but totally unnecessary to be changed in the first place.

hot4play1d 4h ago

I’m still holding out for a physical release on PS5 or Switch. Has Capcom confirmed whether a disc version is still in the works?

DarXyde1d 3h ago

How is it censorship if Capcom is the one that made the change of their own volition? I could understand if they did it because they were told to, but that doesn't seem to be the case. At this point, it's a creative change.

You could make the argument that Oyu's costume was only more revealing because they wanted to appeal to horny teens at the time and this is what they would prefer to do.

We don't really know, but it was Capcom's decision, so why is this a big deal?

Rebel_Scum1d 2h ago (Edited 1d 2h ago )

Its isnt censorship. There’s just a weird crowd of internet folk who cry about these sorts of changes.

At the end of the day they are the creators. They can change their art whenever and however they see fit. Happens in every artistic medium.

MDTunkown17h ago

The game is over 20 year old and remaster wasn’t made by og developers even Capcom CEO was someone else back then. So they took an old game from another period and made changes not to offend modern gamers.
But if you buying a remaster you just want higher definition and frame rate and having same experience as the game originally launched.

DarXyde2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

"So they took an old game from another period and made changes not to offend modern gamers."

So your criticism is that it's modernized? Modernization of gaming takes many forms. Even MGS3∆ has made modernizations. I don't know how old you are, but, believe it or not, people who were young-ish when these games came out are not the target audience of these remakes and remasters. Games get modernized for a modern target audience. Just as some mechanics are dated, so too are some themes. I think you unintentionally described it best: the game is modernized (i.e., made for the modern target demographic). It's not all about us.

"But if you buying a remaster you just want higher definition and frame rate and having same experience as the game originally launched."

This makes zero sense. So based on your argument here, higher definition and frame rate would not change the experience... But an undershirt on a supporting character does? What are you even saying?

jambola9h ago

yeah
it they remove half the game and make you pay a subscription
who cares right? no big deal? capcoms decision?

you can split hairs if you wants, different name, same result
self censorship if anythign

DarXyde2h ago

You would say that, as you come in with this straw man argument?

They're not removing half the game. They're not making you pay a subscription. They covered up a pair of tatas.

That's it. That's literally it. In no world is your silly comparison even remotely the same thing or indicative of a slippery slope.
