If switch can do anything close to killzone 2, then I would be impresed. This game isn't a graphical marvel, by any means

ABizzel12963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

Graphically speaking Switch can run any game PS3/360/Wii U could run, because its Tegra X1 graphics core is the more powerful GPU and it has 4GB of RAM compared to their 2GB / 512MB. The only thing that would hold it back would be the CPU which again considering those were mid / high end 2005 / 2006 CPUs (Wii U might as well been the same), compared to a mobile 2015 CPU, the performance gap shouldn't be too big especially compared to the Wii U and 360 for that matter which were both more traditional IBM PowerPC processors.

Anything they could do, Switch should be able to do with a potentially lower physics / AI (from the CPU side), but better resolution / textures with the better GPU / RAM, so long as developers take advantage of the hardware.

I agree with you to a point, but Wii U, definitely has more power than PS360. Games like BOTW, Xenoblade X, MK8, show that. In the video textures for this game are much improved.

EddieNX 2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

The Switch is more powerful than PS3 in everyway in handheld mode, in docked mode its really quite close to the XB1 let alone PS3 or 360.

MVGeneral2963d ago (Edited 2963d ago )

@eddienx
No it's not. The early report that it was close to the Xbone was false. It was a rumour and it was false reporting. Ita not as powerful or even close to the xbone.

Just look at this on your pc. Mobile doesn't work

@iplay1up2

Wii U had a more powerful GPU and more RAM, but it's CPU was arguably weaker than both PS3 and 360, which made absolutely no sense considering it released 6 - 7 years later. The Wii U was a step ahead of the PS360 power wise if that.

@EddieNX

The Switch is nowhere near XBO, performance wise it's just a skip ahead of PS3 / 360 / Wii U (not a leap and not a jump). It's GPU is about 50% more powerful than the Wii U, it has 2x the RAM, and it's CPU is on par with Wii U / 360 levels of performance. Switch is a more powerful Wii U plain and simple stuffed in a tablet.

EddieNX 2962d ago

Image form DEC has said 'its pretty damn close' to xb1 in power. Its already proving is leaps and bounds better than 360/wiiu. It has a modern GPU for example unlike their extremely dated ones. It supports engines that would not work on those consoles.

Fast RMX shows the quite large leap in power compared to Wiiu, Lego City is also on par with the ps4 version making the Wiiu version look last gen by comparison. We don't really have much else to compare as its just released. It is closer to XB1 when docked, fact.

Vits2962d ago (Edited 2962d ago )

@EddieNX Sorry, but the Switch is nowhere near the XONE in terms of raw power. A Tegra X1 GPU can at best offers 0.512 Teraflops and that is running at 1000MHz, the one that equips the Switch runs at 768MHz (Docked) according to DF and Arstechnica, so it will offer a little less than that.

While the XONE GPU offers 1.3 Teraflops (or 1.4 in the S model). So in GPU alone, the Switch is far less powerful if we take into consideration other important factors like CPU/Memory Speed as well as bandwidth, the difference between a Switch and a XONE would be absymal.

As a handheld the Switch is a impressive device but when compared to home consoles, it is just a little more than a last gen console. At least in raw power.

@EddieNX

You don't know anything about hardware at all. The only thing you can go by is a hopeful Digital Foundry video comparing Switch to other platforms where it will always lose, and in the best case be slightly behind the console versions of a game that doesn't push PS4 or XBO at all.

Like Vits above me said, the hardware just ins't comparable to the XBO. People keep throwing this 1 TFLOP GPU figure out for Switch, but that's for Floating Point 16, and if you go with Floating Point 16 for the XBO then it's 2.6 / 2.8 TFLOPS (XBO / XBOs) compared to the Switch. Switch isn't even 1/2 the power of the XBO. XBO GPU is 3.5x Switch GPU in it's best showing, has 2x the RAM at a much higher bandwidth, and has 2x the CPU cores all of which are more powerful.

The actual GAMING TFLOPS of the Switch is around 400 GFLOP, which puts it's GPU at practically 1.75x the performance of Wii U, with 2x the memory, and a similar but easier to use CPU. Which is reflected in all the games you listed as well as others. The big benefit is the change to traditional hardware, a much better API built by NVIDIA, and much better 3rd party engine support, which overall allows the Switch to act as 2x the power of the Wii U.

Fast RMX is the best showing of that performance gain, by enhancing graphics, keeping hitting 60fps consistently, and boosting resolution to 1080p from 720p on the Wii U. But it's a track racer.

Lego Games really. They aren't demanding to being with, and can be ran on integrated GPUs at max settings. And it didn't make the Wii U version look last-gen by any standards, it looked better because it had physically based rendering. And the game runs at 60fps on PS4 / XBO in interiors.

Switch games will be comparable to PS360Wii U games with:
More stable framerate (30fps most the time, vs. 30fps capped),
Better in-game effects (reflections, textures, lighting)
Better post processing effects (some form of Anti-Alaising)
And a higher resolution.

All welcomed improvements, and well within the 2x GPU power difference, but still nowhere near XBO levels of performance. Switch will always be PC versions low settings (Lego games max settings are equivalent to most games low / medium settings), meanwhile PS4 and XBO will always be Medium - High settings.

conanlifts2962d ago (Edited 2962d ago )

@eddie nx. Switch is in between xbox one and xbox 360, but not really on a par with the xbox one. If you consider the xbox one as 4x xbox 360 in power then i would say switch is about 2.5x the power of the 360 when docked. With the new boost modes then in portable maybe 1.5x the power of the 360. This still leaves it anywhere from 30-50% less powerful than the the xbox one when docked. This is also potentially overestimated, but a few things Have still not been 100% confirmed ( clock speed etc). But its still impressive due to its portability.

U must not understand how video games work and live under a rock smh the switch is miles more powerful than the ps2 and can produce beget looking games than kilzone2.

Fullmetalevolust2963d ago

any remake at this point should look better or perform as well as the original. It's a great game on the go, loved it on the vita.

FunAndGun2963d ago

This was fun on the Vita. Tough little game for sure.

MrFisher212963d ago

Lol. Is the frame rate atleast upped?

EddieNX 2963d ago

It looks way way better on Switch.

indysurfn2962d ago

i THINK People that disagreed didn't see which side of the video was SWITCH and which side was PS360
