Good news for Deep Down fans, Capcom, the Japanese video game developer behind the upcoming game has renewed its trademark for the IP.
C'mon capcom and Sony Give it to us!!!!! That demo where a group of players is fighting a dragon is sick
Was hype about this game until i heard that it was F2P. Not a big fan of F2P games.
I doubt at this point it's even F2P anymore.Im guessing it will be a full retail $60.Cuz wht take so long to release it?
I'm hoping they're going to show a new reveal for it at E3 where they scrap the F2P model. It looked like it had a lot of potential from what they showed before. It was sick when they showed the fight with the dragon and used magic to stop time.
They copped a fair bit of heat when they announced F2P, they may have reconsidered that decision. With F2P it can be hit and miss, I'm with you in that I'd like a full priced game. Hoping for a re-reveal at E3.
It's vaporware. Will be the next Duke Nukem if it ever does see the light of day.
@fenome Yeah it was sick, but too bad it was pre rendered... no way the game is going to look that damn good in the final game.
@DaDrunkenJester It wasn't pre-rendered, they were playing it. There's no reason it can't look that good, it's just like how photo mode stops time along with all the effects except you get to run around in it. I love hitting photo mode in games just to pan around and check everything out from different angles while time is stopped, it's badass.
there are games that do it right. War Thunder to name one off the top of my head.
Warframe. That is all.
Same here. If it's still free to play I'm honestly not as interested, though, Let It Die isn't bad for F2P.
This was my most anticipated game after the PS4 reveal but when they announced it was f2p and that it's all procedurally generated it buried my hype for good. That trailer was mind blowing. I thought it was going to be an action rpg like W3/Horizon. Such a shame.
Agreed. Why even make the game F2P? Just make the game for $60 and add new areas/enemies in the form of DLC? I don't mind paying for that type of DLC instead of the nickel and diming model of F2P microtransactions
Hopefully a full game now. F2P is never a good idea.
this game would have already been released if only Capcom have let Sony and Studio Japan be more involved in the project but they decided not to let Sony interfere. I guess they want to keep it as theirs and prevent Sony from locking it down it as their 3rd party exclusive IP like they did with Demon's Souls and Bloodborne. but what good does that do for them, though? it's beyond ridiculous now. how much longer is the game going to take for development? even RE7 which were knew nothing about when Deep Down was announced was already released. what gives, Capcom?
Yeah, at this point they probably have scrapped the F2P model, and maybe even reworked the whole game considering how much time has passed. Maybe they have even taken a few notes from Dark Souls, but concentrated on dungeon cravling and coopping. It would be a good marketing decision seeing how the series has ended. Good time to tap on that market.
If the Last Guardian came out 10 years later I'm sure this game will release someday
Dragons Dogma Deep Down? I would buy a PS4 just for this exclusive.
That pretty much happens every day in World of Warcraft. I was interested in the game because I thought it would be similar to Dragon's Dogma, which still doesn't have a true sequel. Now I don't know what to make of Deep Down. Maybe we will learn more at the E3.
Please show up at E3.
Yeah i want to see it at E3.
Could be E3 reveal :)
Hopefully this is at Sony's E3 conference. I'll be super excited if it is
I'm guessing the initial game ended up too generic and they've scratched it and are redoing it from start. That, or they took the concept of randomized dungeons and multiplayer to heart in order to make money on it as a F2P game. Either way, something good might come out of it.
'deep down' I always wondered what happened to this one.
The people who disagreed with you must have no sense of humor.
Really hope to finally see anything about this game. Would be even better if we could also get a a Dragon's Dogma sequel.
such a stupid name its a porno movie.
Nah... you want to talk about a game title that is more akin to a porno... "black hole assault" yeah that is a real game title. Came out on the Sega CD years ago.
Forgot about this game. That's curious. Why renew the trademark? If I could fathom a guess, it'll be shown at E3 and, if Sony was serious about changing their ways about announcing games too early, we'll see it released maybe this year or early next. Wishful thinking, but I'd like to see more.
Except unless Sony is publishing it they really have no control over the release date.
Correct. Even if Sony was publishing, after all this time they likely left that deal based on Capcom. It wouldn't be the first time Sony has opted out of a deal based on shady dealings. ie Rime, LA Noire etc.
I'm fairly confident Sony is publishing this game, assuming it still exists.
I do think it's possible Sony is funding it now. Capcom doesn't have the funds to spend five years developing a single new IP. They needed assistance with Street Fighter V for heaven's sake. But as of now we don't know.
? ", if Sony was serious about changing their ways about announcing games too early" This is Capcom's game, not Sony.... I mean...dear god it says on the title CAPCOM RENEWS TRADEMARK!
I had forgotten this existed.
The cake is a lie... Just like this game.
Going on 4 yrs later still no game! Well atleast I know Capcom/Sony wont cancel it...maybe a PS5 title.
Uh... there are games for Xbox One titles that were announced 4 years ago that still haven't been released, so nice try. Cuphead, and Below have yet to be released, and were announced in 2013.
Maybe it will be a Scorpio title. Millions will buy it just for Deep Down and dat 4K, huh?
I cant believe people still give a damn about this game. It will never see the light of day.
Just like FFXV and the last guardian?
Big deal. This game is vaporware. I've lost all interest in this tech demo.
Vaporware is nice? You have weird taste my man
Yeah, I don't get why people are so excited. Capcom isn't exactly a top-notch studio any more. On top of that, most games that go through a troubled development like this end up having major issues at launch. If this wasn't an exclusive game people would barely even pay attention to it. My guess is that after the game got the attention it did, and the backlash from the F2P announcement, they reconsidered and turned it into a full fledged game . . . But it'll be maybe a 7-8/10 title. Not bad, but it won't be anything exceptional.
Exactly they only care cause it's a PS exclusive. This game should have BEEN out but instead it's vaporware. Oh well maybe a PS5 launch title lol.
@10th "Capcom isn't exactly a top-notch studio any more" 100% Agreed, but with RE7, they are showing they still have some gems left. Capcom is just not the same like it was 20 years ago, things are just so different, so many of their core talent has left to form other teams, companies etc People are excited about something new, something different, a new IP will always have that mystery and interest. ". If this wasn't an exclusive game people would barely even pay attention to it" Doubt it, doubt it a lot. If its coming to PS4 and XONE, you really think XONE or PS4 owners are going to NOT care about a new game they can play? Buddy.....we are all still gamers. The reason why folks care about this has more to do with it being a interesting game vs being a game only coming to PS4. If it was coming to PC, XONE and PS4, it would have even MORE folks asking about it as its a larger install base questioning what and where this game is. " the backlash from the F2P announcement, they reconsidered and turned it into a full fledged game" I don't really know what that means. You might want to clarify and restate. F2P game is still a game. Unless you mean from F2P to them charging as I'm not even sure how that would change much. Would Warframe charging $60 and having a disk really change much of the game? As time goes on, I don't feel Capcom can pull this game off simply based on their business situation. They need help. I worry more and more about what they put out and its quality. Right now the only thing I'll buy from them is Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, I've lost so much trust in this publisher to deliver on games based on their bad titles and outsourcing. I'd say I feel about the same way with Nintendo.
@_-EDMIX-_, Well, obviously people would still care about it if it wasn't exclusive. But there's plenty of titles that look just as good that completely fall to the wayside without much attention. Generally the games in development hell that get a ton of attention are either exclusives or from a well known IP, such as Star Wars 1313. As for clarifying the statement. I agree that there are some complete and stellar F2P games out there, but most F2P titles are smaller titles with a lesser scope than a full priced game.
Lol it lives!!!
Quit playin' around Capcom
I still just want a next gen Dragons Dogma 2.
I still play Dragon Dogma on my PS3. Going to Bitterblack Island at low level is like crack to me.
It exists..... http://i.imgur.com/tXNEFRO....
Crapcom and shove it. Bunch of aholes.
if it doesn't have a single player option i'm not buying
But will it be anything like the original demo implied?
i was looking so forward to this game. just release it or can it. Jesus!
I would very much like to see more of this game. If it's anything like the soulsborne games, it'd be a day 1 purchase for me.
The game didn't look bad when they first announced it, but I fear that they'll try too copy too much the Dark Souls formula ...
Ah the case of the game that will never "release". Still hoping one day we see more on it.
I remember seeing this previewed years ago and being really impressed by the visuals, shame they never did anything with it yet.
I loved Dragon's Dogma and I always hoped Deep Down was somehow connected to it and if they scrapped the F2P I would be all in.
At least show us some progress guys, that dragon was awesome. A drop of new gameplay perhaps?
Nintendo renews the Eternal Darkness IP every few years and nothing ever comes from it so am I not holding my breath on Capcom doing this either.
From what they said way back, and now, it seems it'll be a full open-world 4player or more Co-Op RPG, rather than just being restricted to a randomly generated dungeon and going back to the hub. So, with fun real-time action combat and the cool gfx and awesome fire and other special fx, it could be cool, if it ever releases.
Interested but have a lot games to keep me busy and so many coming. I hope it turns out because it looked like a game I would want to play and hopefully it releases when my backlog has shrunk a bit
