because having a popular board game for a system that screams the ability to play table top games on is a bad idea now? Seriously I hope we see more board games follow suit.

RuleNumber52569d ago

It's a great idea, but Monopoly isn't a big get for Switch. Where's Wildlands or For Honor for Switch? PS4, Xbox One and PC get the latter two games, while Switch gets Monopoly. That is my point.

Neonridr2569d ago

consoles still get board games, but at least the Switch presents an interesting way to play the game.

I don't doubt that the Switch will still be short in the area of 3rd party games, but I still think we will see a stronger effort this time by 3rd parties since the Switch will no doubt sell better than the Wii U. I mean we saw every game show up on the Wii and that thing was extremely underpowered.

RosweeSon2569d ago

Do they all have this version of monopoly tho? Nope. I understand as monopoly wow not for me really it's a great game and all that but no thanks. Board game collection would be good and more options the better so I'll take wildlands as you say but when it's already available and no doubt better elsewhere PS4/pc Xbox 1 having it on a 4th console will sell switchs? Sure monopoly won't but the fact it's exclusive... as monopoly gets don't think the others can do the stuff with the joy cons like I saw in the brief glimpse of the trailer or corresponding part of Nintendo direct. Better 3rd party games give us switch owners something exclusive rather than just same old same old as the others.
At the end of the day the only trend after a month of Switch launch is people still wanna see if fail.. sad.

wheresmymonkey2569d ago

FUnny how you ignore the fact its also getting, an exclusive new version of SFII, Disgea 5, Minecraft, and Payday 2 as well.

As well as a but load of decent Indies. But sure, no third party support.

I think the problem here is that your idea of third party support is really narrow. More over the Switch s positioning itself as a console that compliments the PS4/ Xbone. So having arguably sluggish ports of this years most forgetable third party games doesn't really bother me.

dubal-e2569d ago

E3 aint roll around yet. May be still coming.

_-EDMIX-_2569d ago

@Where- "FUnny how you ignore the fact its also getting, an exclusive new version of SFII, Disgea 5, Minecraft, and Payday 2 as well."

How does that help when you name other old games? smh..

I mean...you might be helping his point if anything.

If MS announced a new console, you really think "an exclusive new version of SFII, Disgea 5, Minecraft, and Payday 2" would suddenly steal the show? It would greatly question whats going on the systems specs to even have those titles as something to brag about.

Its not saying those games are bad, simply that those games release on PS4 or XONE are not even list worthy, they are not games that someone is out right telling you they are buying a new system for.

fungusar2569d ago

Why the Switch need those game? you can play them on Ps4 and Xbox. The Switch needs its own game. and Monopoly is a good start.

Ol_G2568d ago

Fuck those games and your point i don't want them on ps4 why would i want them on Switch.
FYI they are bringing games like Steep to the platform so it's not only Monopoly but what they think will sell

Elwenil2568d ago

@ wheresmymonkey,

"FUnny how you ignore the fact its also getting, an exclusive new version of SFII, Disgea 5, Minecraft, and Payday 2 as well."

Funny how those "exclusive new versions" most likely means downgraded ports that don't measure up to the normal versions. So how is that a good thing again? Looking forward to the spin...

Monopoly has been on practically every system ever since the NES!!! It's pretty sad these blind delusional Switch defenders get excited over monopoly?!?! and snipperclips?!????????? What a joke

Neonridr2569d ago

actually Snipperclips is a really cool game to play. I would suggest you try it, but we all know that you don't actually own a Switch but still like saying something sucks when you have zero experience with it.

fungusar2569d ago

Snipperclips is a very good game, i play it with my wife and 7 years old daugther every day.

Aenea2569d ago

If they would implement actual fun boardgames I am all for it! But Monopoly? Yuck....

PS. anything in the top 500 of BoardGameGeek would be welcomed: https://boardgamegeek.com/b...

2pacalypsenow2569d ago

Game is actually a really good fit for the Switch

richyque2569d ago

Nintendo fans will take any game they can get. No matter what it is they will point and say we got 3rd party support.

shockwave4life2569d ago

Nintendo fanboys are getting excited for snipperclips?!???!........that 's when u know the switch is failing!

The 10th Rider2569d ago

But Snipperclips is a well liked, well reviewed game . . .

Other people got excited for Mass Effect Andromeda and look how that turned out.

fungusar2569d ago (Edited 2569d ago )

i like Snipperclips but i also have Playstation 4. you dont need to be a fanboy to like it.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2569d ago

yeah just like you sony fanboys getting excited for Little Big Planet back on PS3

conanlifts2569d ago (Edited 2569d ago )

Yes i hate it when people get excited for well reviewed, enjoyable, puzzle games.

( btw that was sarcasm)

Why are you a Nintendo fan because you like Nintendo? I have all Nintendos but also all Playstations.

PhoenixUp2569d ago

How many times was that phrase uttered during Wii U's lifecycle

“Monopoly” has just announced its brand-new DLC pack for iOS and Android

Marmalade Game Studio along with Hasbro Inc. is delighted to announce a brand-new DLC pack for "MONOPOLY" on iOS and Android adding a vintage, dazzling new board representing Atlantic City in 1935 - the setting of the original MONOPOLY board game.

ThatArtGuy1502d ago

Is it the DLC for adding the "get tax money for landing on Free Parking" house rule?

" a brand-new DLC pack for "MONOPOLY" on iOS and Android adding a vintage, dazzling new board representing Atlantic City in 1935 - the setting of the original MONOPOLY board game."

- That's what's said at least.

akurtz1501d ago

They should add a california edition patch where you get taxed for just rolling the dice.

Benji1502d ago

I think it's great to get this on iOS.
