PS4 vs Xbox One vs Wii U USA Lifetime Sales | February 2017 Update

Looking at the total sales of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in the US in February 2017 shows how close the race between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One really is. The gap between the two has grown for four straight months in favor of the PlayStation 4.

The PlayStation 4 crossed the 18 million mark. The PlayStation 4 has sold 18.21 million units lifetime in the US, the Xbox One 16.33 million units, and the Wii U 5.68 million units.

WII U has been dead for along time.

That's why the switch came out.

If Nintendo would have stuck to the original Wii format.

Better Motion controls, and a much higher graphical quality and kept the price decent. They would have done well. But instead they brought out the Wii u, although it's graphics in games is actually good for the look going for it.

I didn't know the sales were in fact so close, ps4 18.2 million vs xbox one 16.3 million. I'm genuinely surprised.

I don't pay much attention to sales, but by people's attitudes and sentiments in these comments "PS4 DOMINATION" "PS4 - THE KING HAS RETURNED" "XBOX HAS NO GAMEZ" and all the "XBOX IN TROUBLE" articles made me believe a different narrative - that things were bad for xbox. it really doesn't seem so though.

Now I can see why NDP thinks xbox might outsell PS4 this year... (in the US i mean)

The article is discussing US sales, and in my comment I specify I’m discussing US as well. Yet, you feel the need to reply and point out WW sales? Are you that insecure? Should that be flagged as inappropriate to discourage flame comments?

You proved my point. People are vocal and quick to point out numbers (even when not relevant) as you did when it looks like 40M vs 10M. But on the flip side they’re very mum when they look like 18.2M vs 16.3M – even though these are the numbers in the article.

I hope other readers of the comment sections take note and looking into things for themselves. It’s too bad the comment section here is as biased as it is and can’t be trusted. One of the things I enjoy on other sites (such as gameasutra and game industry.biz) is reading the comments section for a valid criticisms of the article and legitimate differing points of view.

I agree. In US PS4 barely leads. But US is Xbox strongest teritory.
