Mario Kart 8 was a major step-up from Mario Kart Wii. It was one of the Wii U games I wasn't particularly interested in for anything but multiplayer, but it ended up being a total blast. The online was smooth and enjoyable as well. The only major issues were the character roster (with those damn Koopalings) and the lack of any real battle mode. Even the DLC was an excellent value for some amazing tracks. With everything included in the deluxe version and the addition of loads of battle modes it's a must buy for anyone who didn't get their hands on Mario Kart 8. Since I own the Wii U version with the DLC I'll probably pass until it sees a significant price drop.

Not every DLC is included in Mario Kart Deluxe. You have to buy everything again apparently...
Yeah...

@BG11579,

Where on earth have you heard that? I've heard nothing but the contrary and can't find anything indicating that you have to buy it again. It literally says on the website "Race as every character on every track from the Wii U version, including DLC characters and tracks."

I wonder if we'll finally just see a Smash Bros Kart one day or Mario Kart and Friends with all these non Mario characters

I wouldn't mind that to be honest. Would give us more characters to work towards as we play the game. Most other Nintendo games look like they could fit in within the same world as Mario so it doesn't look out of place.

There's a few of characters I wouldn't mind seeing. I feel like Kirby and a Kirby race track should be in the game anyways because it's such a great thematic fit. I think there's plenty of other characters that could work, but I'd prefer they keep the main roster primarily Mario and Donkey Kong characters and leave the others for DLC packs.

I love how its all on a game cart again instead of discs.. We have no need for them anymore.. Too big and take up too much space..

Just ordered my copy yesterday, gets here today. I still haven't beat FF7 Rebirth, but I want to play Stellar Blade lol. So I'll just play both 🤷🏽 and Helldivers 2 🇺🇸

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Just finished fishing all the fish in the game to unlock an outfit lol.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on
