Only $40? Got my order locked in... it doesn't mention the vanargand edition yet though.

Summons752954d ago

Yeah, I'll pre-order when the Vanargand Edition is available. But $40 is an awesome price.

Xbox gamers this is your chance. Tell everyone you can about it, create some buzz about it, and most importantly, hope it translates to sales. Valkyria has been PlayStation exclusive since its creation. Sega is clearly trying to reach a bigger audience with the series because sales have decreased but they still believe in it. This one is a bit more action oriented than past ones but you can still feel the underlying RPG elements. Point being, Sega could port so many games to Xbox if gamers simply showed they have a interest in the niche titles. In the ones without the multi million dollar budgets. I have a Xbox and while I won't be getting it on there I would love for A:more people to be able to enjoy it and B: Xbox to get more variety in titles.

KillZallthebeast2954d ago

Not sure this game applies as much since it's a much different format from the past ones. I hope it's good none the less.

boomtube19872954d ago

i doubt most Xbox gamers would care one toss about this japanese game as most plays Shooters, sports and Multiplayer online games.

gangsta_red2954d ago (Edited 2954d ago )

You guys act like it did gangbusters on the playstation console. Supposedly and despite the praise the game flopped on PS3.

If I'm not mistaken Sega had to put the sequels to VC on the psp instead of the actual console.

gangsta_red2954d ago

Maybe you should also tell Playstation gamers the same since the first one for PS3 didnt do well in sales too.

It's one of the main reasons Sega made sequels that went directly to the PSP unfortunately.

Deathdeliverer2954d ago

Actually the first one did so well that they made the remaster and, like you said, a sequel for Sony handhelds. The series was never meant to be a big time seller. Just like Disgaea, Hyper Dimension Neptuna, and even Persona. But they keep getting sequels because they sell well. Not multi million sellers, or even 1 million sellers. They aren't even budgeted for that. Therefore PS gamers support so many other niche titles that companies take that risk of releasing titles where you aren't expecting mass appeal. Even if you released a game and it flopped it was worth the risk versus doing it on Xbox because it's perceived as dead in the water. I was saying supporting games like this (Valkyria) is a start to getting rid of that perception and getting more titles like Nioh and Yakuza. Some of you guys are so defensive that it ruins your comprehension.

Kribwalker2954d ago

@death
So you are telling me they purposefully designed the game so it would not sell a lot and they wouldn't recoup their money?? Smh....so a game like this or gravity rush 2 not selling is because its niche, but if it was on Xbox it would be a flop if it didn't sell well, I think I get it now. Sony=glass half full, Xbox = glass half empty

P_Bomb2954d ago (Edited 2954d ago )

gangsta, krib, it did over a million on PS3. A million for a single console jrpg doesn't qualify as "not selling". The revisionist history some of you guys are peddling in this thread is mind boggling.

Eg. The producer himself said the reason they went to PSP is because it made for quicker turnarounds on games as they didn't have the 3 years minimum to make a console sequel, even with re-used assets https://www.google.ca/amp/k... .

PSP and handhelds sold well during that era. Don't confuse it with the Vita.

gangsta_red2954d ago (Edited 2954d ago )

@P_Bomb

" it did over a million on PS3. "

Over how long of a period? Doing a million in over two or three years or even a year doesn't mean it was a success. It is well known that the game did not meet sales expectations, if it did the sequels would have been on PS3. It's the same reason why most jrpgs go to portable or mobile, because of the high cost and low return of consoles.

I mean seriously, even your link proves that point of their decision to move it to PSP. It's because they couldn't afford another loss with a long production cycle of a console sequel.

The confusion you have with history is also amazing.

i bought valyria chronicles on my ps3 and later on the pc but this is not a turn based game like that

gangsta_red2954d ago (Edited 2954d ago )

Actually the first one didn't do well but it was critically well received, that is probably why it received a remaster.

....But yes for Playstation...it was niche...and was never meant to sell..on Xbox it would be considered a flop becuase it never meant to sell.

Damn, I want this. I wish they would bring the 3rd game to the U.S. already. Also move the 2nd game the PS3/PS4.

PhoenixUp2954d ago

Why no preorder options for the Vita version

DeathtoOtakuDJ2954d ago (Edited 2954d ago )

Vita version is digital only. At least.. that's what I have heard on Gematsu.

Valkyria Revolution Review – Take a Chance on Me

Gary Green said: I’m always happy to stick up for an underdog. I’m nice like that. It does sadden me when a perfectly serviceable game gets dragged through the wringer of critique, simply because other games have handled similar themes and gameplay with better results over the years. Despite this, I don’t really feel like I’ve done Valkyria Revolution justice in previous drafts of this review. Time for a re-write. Let’s do this properly. Valkyria Revolution might not be perfect, but it still deserves its chance to shine.

Rating Each of the Vita's Localization Studios

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "What I aim to examine in this article is the output of each of the major localization companies, in terms of what they released, what they chose not to release (including when they localized titles for other platforms but skipped the Vita version), as well as some brief commentary on the quality of their translations, before providing an overall rating on their support (outstanding -> amazing – > good -> solid -> poor).

A large part of the reason I love Vita so much is thanks to its brilliant selection of Japanese games and that’s really what I want to celebrate here, but also lament some of the missed opportunities we had along the way."
