The original article this references is overgeneralizing how modern games operate now. How many people unlocked every single cosmetic in Halo 5, Blops 3, Overwatch, etc.? The cosmetics are designed to keep players motivated to keep playing. The biggest difference with FH and the rest of those games however is the cosmetics aren't tied to loot boxes, so instead they have this ridiculous grind in place of it. It's identical to every other game on the market right now except it reverses the accepted practice of opening boxes for fluff and instead gear.
