Online retailer Amazon.com is gearing up for the holidays by launching a massive Blu-ray Disc sale including a number of recently released titles. The sale cuts prices up to 55% off list.
More money will go on movies not games from PS3 owners. Worse software sales..
still pissed about HD DVD huh
Want some cheese with that whine?
Well luckily we get to have both. :)
by both do you mean cheese AND whine? (hehe)
Ive got plenty of blu ray/ps3 games and not 1 blu ray movie yet. Though last night I did notice Afro Samurai Season 1 blu ray was oddly cheap and added it to my wishlist. It could be the first blu ray Movie disc I get or not. I might just get more games.
More entertainment value from the ps3. .... The look and sound of denial
Sounds good.I will finally pick up some more Blu-Ray movies
i've always noticed the prices on amazon are inflated and the sale price are usually the same as a retailer by me. wtf? but i like their BoGoF deals though
Gotta get me some more blu rays for my Ps3
Seems kind of desperate.
hit the "off" switch on those fanboy goggles will ya
The 360 just got a price cut. Seems kinda desperate. M I RITE / sarcasm
You make a good point, however Amazon didn't lower the price of the 360 MS did. So this sale would lead me to believe that BD sells aren't doing all that well. Edit: Wow! 300 for 18.95 with a 43%-55% reduction. Damn, how much was amazon charging for these disks to start with. Seems to me that they are overpriced from the get go.
"You make a good point, however Amazon didn't lower the price of the 360 MS did. So this sale would lead me to believe that BD sells aren't doing all that well." Actually, wouldn't that be the other way around. If MS lowered the price of the 360 wouldn't that say the 360 isn't doing so well? If BD sales weren't doing well, then everyone would be lowering prices. Not just one place like Amazon. And well yeah to be honest, Amazon prices on BD are high sometimes
Hahaha, I love the responses. I wrote this because this was one of the first things written about the 360 price cut.
Hardly a sale, most good movies are still $20......
NO thanks i'm happy chappy with my dvd
you mean crappy with ur dvd?
PP, you must be happy with an SD picture, because you like playing with your 360 too.
Which blu rays to buy which blu rays to buy!
tempting, but im poor right now. i dont even think i'll be able to buy some of the games I want. at least for a couple months or so
Try Gamefly. I use netflix and gamefly and it saves me tons of money. 16.00 a month is pretty cheap.
not a big fan of renting. i usually just buy a select few
Do both. Rent all games and buy those you want to keep. Keep in mind, buying from Gamefly is cheap. Games are like $42-45 most of the time after you're a member for a while.
Amazon is getting rid of blu-ray. See doesn't that sound stupid. This is good for blu-ray owners. Sales are good for everyone. Sales don't mean that a product is at the end of its life cycle.
arrested development right?
On the news 2 nights ago they were talking about many prices being slashed in half in fear of poor sales this holiday season from retailers. This is a really good time for people to hop on and take advantage of the economies current position including stocks before things get back to normal and we miss out. I wasn't planning on going bluray so soon but this is hard to pass up and only makes since to do at these prices. So if anybody happens to know of any stocks that have dropped quite a bit could you please PM me those tickers?
Lehman Brothers. hahahahahah
Washington Mutual (WM) has hit rock bottom trading at 5~6 from 30 or 40 (can't remember exactly). There has been talks that they are looking for a buyer (some say they were talking one of the European Banks). But, this is only speculation right now, so if nothing goes through they could sink even lower...if thats even possible. **no problem, just be careful with WaMu, because they are in a really bad position, so the outcome is really unclear.
Hey actually thanks lol. I hope people jumped ship though before it hit the bottom.
Blu ray has peaked in growth so they are doing this price cut because this is blu rays last chance before DD or DVD send it to its grave. Now does'nt that sound dumb? Some people on n4g need to take a critical thinking class.
DVD sending BD to its grave. Damn where did you take your sarcasm classes? I need to sign up pronto. (wait, you *were* being sarcastic, right?) But in all seriousness, I do believe this is Amazon's effort to squeeze as much out of the consumers' pockets before the economy crashes hard in.... two weeks. And they probably also want to do this before all those 360/PS3 games hit the shelves, because once they start coming out, nobody will want to buy movies. I mean, can you guys believe the holiday lineup? (on both sides, that is) If you are an avid gamer, you are going to end up spending somewhere around $300 just on games this holiday! Forget about tht $200 pricetag on a console. If you are looking to buy a next-gen console, and want to play all the "cool games" you are going to be spending anywhere between $500-700 depending on how many games you want to buy! Yeah, I really can't see myself buying movies once October comes. So Amazon is doing the smart thing here. They've ALWAYS been on top of consumer-oriented pricing.
Prices still aren't that great the only movie they have on sale thats worth it is Enter The Dragon at $13.95
I'm all up in this sale. Let's see what they have to offer. I don't buy to many Blu Rays, as I don't watch many movies on my PS3. But I'm not one to look away from a good sale.
Woot! I picked up Cloverfield on Blu-ray last Friday at Walmart for 30 bucks, anybody recommend any other movies that are great on Blu-ray? Anyone know how long this sale will last?
batman begins, the pirates trilogy, ratatouille im waiting for iron man, dark knight, godfather trilogy :D, incredible hulk, wanted and austin powers trilogy
They always inflate their retail price. They then say they have such a huge sale. Some items actually are cheaper, but some are only slightly lower. Their blu-ray prices are almost always cheaper than Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.. Iron man on Blu @ Best Buy $35 Iron Man on Amazon $26 (free shipping). I've been ordering all my blu ray movies from amazon for a while now. Now there just needs to be some new worthwhile movies to buy.
Gangs of New York is the only one I could even give a crap about
Fire sell... they need to get rid of these stuff no one is buying..
Sweet there are some great movies there. I just picked up Shinobi: Heart Under Blade myself. Great deals definitely worth a look.
So I guess people are just still buying dvd's and I don't blame them some of the early Blu-rays where not that amazing compared to the DVD version.. I mean blu-ray has not blown me away, I did watch No country for old men on my HDTV and it was ok... But is it worth the extra.. I don't really think so... I think the Dvd's look good enough and they are so much cheaper.. For me blu-ray has it work cut out for it, they are going to have to get a little better.. Maybe try super def -video below- that's how I want my blu-ray to look. -Like I'm looking outside of my window. take a look at this video below
