Mega Man 9 - WiiWare World review

A portion of the Mega Man 9 review from WiiWare World...

You have to appreciate what Capcom has pulled off with the release of Mega Man 9. Not many companies would be willing to take a chance on making an 8-bit game in an era where video games tend to look more like motion pictures than the pixelated affairs of the '80s. Sure the game isn't much to look at and it's still odd to hear the NES-like music blaring through a Dolby Surround Sound system, but when you get right down to it, there's just something incredibly satisfying and unique about playing a completely original 8-bit Mega Man title almost 15 years since the last NES release. About the only thing that might be construed as a negative aspect might be the rather brutal difficulty of the game; this is definitely not a title for the faint of heart. If you're a classic Mega Man fan, then this is without a shadow of a doubt the game you've been waiting all these years for. And for those who never got the chance to experience the outstanding early releases, here's your chance.

...I don't care how many people disagree. But I love Megaman games and cannot stand that they spent all this time and resources on a game that:

1)Has no Trophy support.
2)Has no PSP Remote Play.
3)Plays at a 4:3 screen ratio.
4)Is done in the "artistic" 8-bit style.
5)No custom Soundtracks.
6)No surround sound.
7)Cost the same as Bionic Commando:Rearmed without the next-gen polish.

While you are entitled to your opinion, I will say that there are great games out there without the features you list that cost much more and are, IMHO, still inferior to MM9.

BC:R is all "next-gen polish". It is a remake. MM9 is brand-new. Assuming equal or comparable quality, I'd rather pay $10 for a new game than $10 for an old one wearing new clothes.

...that doesn't mean they are worth $10. In case you've never played it, Bionic Commando is not a pixel for pixel remake. The original game influenced each level, but the levels are all made from the ground up, including the bosses and soundtrack. So, my point is, why is Megaman worth the same as BC:R? Buying Megaman 9 only reassures developers that we will buy anything old and under-developed as long as they call it "Retro". So go ahead, give your money away, I'll buy it when it drops to $5.
