Playstation Home finally hitting the PS3 - does anyone still care?

Anyway ontopic: We all know Home is not going to be perfect when it's released. It will always need fine tuning. And Sony will always add things to home, to make it better.

And Of course, Sony can't do everything. Developers need to be with sony and support Home as much as they can.

What I certainly do know is that it's going to miles better than second life and is isn't even the same category.

Personally I am excited more about the games and getting Home is an added free feature to have.

I can't judge Home when it comes out, but it might take 2-4 months for home to really launch and show all it can to the consumer.

I tried the beta out for the first time lastnight, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was alot of fun and I met alot of people. I was playing pool with other people, chatting, playing arcade games and chess. I took a trip through the mall and bought some clothes, furniture and a summer home space. They've got an outdoor music area which was cool and I even popped into the movie theater.

My apartment looks PIMP and the view from the balcony is beautiful. I think alot of people are going to get addicted to HOME. Has anyone seen that PSP commercial in the bowling alley? Its on one of the TVs hanging on the wall, its hilarious.

Well guess what. All PS3 owners will now be able to go to virtual game conferences on the PS3. E3, GIC, etc etc.

This alone is going to make Home HUGE!! To be able to not only see the gaming conferences but to participate in asking the developers questions, play the demos etc.

I think it was kind of a good thing that the hype has died down so people can see it for what it is instead of what they thought. I generally think when people first hear about something they usually over exaggerate or under exaggerate. Especially when there is speculation of what (product name) will be like.

I do not know exactly how Home works. I've seen a few videos I know that you can meet people, have your own "home" have a trophy room...go bowling, play pool etc. But always videos of the same thing. I haven't seen a video o f how to start a game from home for example. Is it possible...yeah they promissed. But I just stoped careing at the beginning of summer. For the 1000th we recive a few screenshots and a video of home and a promisse that it'll be great....I'm tired of that.

I'm a PS3/PC owner only. Don't have an Xbox or Wii so don't even try telling me that I'm a troll.

Home should have been released a long time ago or at least not shown till it's ready to be released within a year.

I have a feeling that's not a problem with the HDD.
I think it has something to do with the last firmware release. I started getting it too and did some reading and it seems to be happening quite a bit. I recently bought a 320 gigger (have a 250 in the PS3 now) and will replace it to see if that fixes the issue, though I have a sneaking suspicion it's not going to.

My PS3 bricked, too. I got the FRLoD, or flashing red light of death, for those who didn't know. I'd turn it on, fan would make a sound for like three secs, and off it went with light-a-flashin'! Press power button, light no flash no mo'! Press powah button again and, um, read back two sentences. Make very nasty cycle of events.

Well, I sent it to whatever Wal Mart's warranty company was and they sent it back to me. Left me a voicemail saying, "Blah, blah, blah, we're sending it back. Sony will send you a prepaid box thingy and you'll ship it to them. They'll give you a replacement." So long as I get a 60 GB model back, I don't care. I've been too drunk these days to play anyway.

As many of you pointed out, Home will most definitely be buggy upon release. On top of that, it's likely going to be pretty bare bones. I suspect Sony plans on releasing more and more updates and features to it over the next couple of years.

BUT, when it's released (hopefully this October), you KNOW that there is going to be a WHOLE bunch of "reviews" of this app stating how it is pretty basic and certainly not worth the wait and hype. Mark my words, it is going to get a LOT of flak when it's released.

So, if you are looking forward to this app and know that it has a great future like I do, then brace yourselves. I think the first few months of its release are going to be tough. That being said, I KNOW it's going to turn into something GREAT eventually. (Much like the PS3, if ya think about it!)

They needed to delay it...it was not ready...just like Microsoft Avatars will not be ready...it will be buggy and not work correctly...just like all microsoft software...but that is ok...eventually it will work. Home just needs content....and a stress test in the beta...which it will get shortly...

Honestly I really don't care that much for HOME, but I do know that there's been a ton of people still anticipating it and I hope they enjoy it. I'm more hyped up for the PS3 exclusives, but HOME is just a nice touch. Hopefully the Video Sharing feature will be in the Final Version of HOME though.

But the features that can be implemented in HOME is what has me more interested, such as broadcasting E3 from HOME and possibly broadcasting other video game shows like TGS and E for All through HOME too.

I have been excited for this since Phil Harrison gave the demo at last years E3. While his character(avatar, here is looking at 360) was dressed like Ratchet. I am a huge fan of 360, don't get me wrong, but since I am several red rings in and with new dashboard update on the horizon ( which I hate the design). I have tried a PC with vista on it and it is poop, but the MS is trying to get the public to love it. And with the introduction of avatars, man I know that rare claims that they had the idea before the Mii's, but I'll be damned if it doesn't seem like a knock off. Nintendo took a huge dump on their fans at E3 this year. i hope that MS doesn't follow suit.

"Online Create" is simply that. Creation mode while online. You can still make levels and upload them, and even make levels with your friends offline. You just won't be able to use create mode with friends online until it gets patched in.

Video sharing isn't one of the reasons I enjoy Home in the state it's in. Being in the beta has opened my eyes to the vast amount of potential in the foundation Sony has set for Home.

I can't wait for the NAMCO arcade.. Or the Konami arcade.. Maybe Capcom. SNK, whatnot. It's also fun to chat it up in real time with nothing but PS3 owners and not have to deal with others crapping on your console every time you turn around.

Really looking forward to seeing exactly what Home is all about when it is finally released. It doesn't have me as excited as the upcoming game releases do but I am looking forward to getting into it.

It won't be perfect at launch despite the delays and will need a fair bit of work over time, that should come asa no surprise to anybody but if we've learned one thing from the PS3's lifespan thus far it's that Sony do continually tweak, improve and add things to make their services better.

Also, Im a known ps3 fanboy. I too am in the beta, and its garbage from what I can tell. I mean, I cant even use my bluetooth mic to talk to people. Everytime I quit game my ps3 starts all over, and there are too many freezing issues. I know I know, most of you will just say that "Its a beta", but this isn't socom. The beta has been going on for 2 years now. There is no reason whatsoever that these problems exist right not. Even if everything did work, I still think its a waste of time. Its just a cluster f*ck right now, and I cant imagine it getting much better.

The funny thing about all of this is that Ive sent emails to sony telling them the problems, and ive got no reply back from them. That wouldn't be so bad if they fixed the problem. A month later the same issues plague the Home beta, but its crazy cause I see Slant Six fixing the Socom beta every week. I would be firing alot of people if I was in charge of Sony's online division. I dont see Home coming out this year if they don't start fixing the beta like yesterday, too bad yesterday has already passed.

I'm in the beta as well and I wouldn't go as far as calling it a "killer app" it is definitely a fun little free service.

One thing that surprises me about it is how more open people are to socialize. You have a world of people you can just walk up to anybody and say "HI!". However, after a few days the novelty starts to wear a bit. Right now the place feels rather empty, but hopefully they roll out a lot more before they go public.

It's like one big dance party! I spent a ton of time just groovin in the public square and talking to people.

I honestly never cared much for home... It never grabbed my interest and I don't think it will once its released. Of course I'll give it some of my time and see if it improves my ps3 experience at all. (which hasn't been great over the last year and a half I must admit...) Not rly. I was hyped when the beta codes were getting handed out, but since I didn't get picked and there's no "good" way to get in (like friend invites) then I had the feeling Sony could have done so much better. All I've heard from it is that the Beta hardly shows anything, you're very limited as to what you can buy, where you can go, and people on it has no interest in talking to you. You are forced to interact with people ONLY from your own country, which disappoints me because I have a ton of friends from UK. Also for those of you who think Home is going to be all free, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony starting a charging a buck or two for the newest furniture, luxury condos, and the trendiest clothing.

Honestly, I get the feeling Home will go down as a project with too much hype to deliver. A huge delay, dates pushed back, and when finally comes, it will be "1337" for a week and then everyone will be bored of it and move on. If Sony support this thing like it's supposed to be, then that'll be great, the ideas are limitless. But eventually the hype will die down and that's where the real test begins.

Well, I just received my invite to the Home and SOCOM Betas... And with GREAT dissapointment, both betas SUCK! Home will be revolutionary, something every real gamer should respect. Sony has put a lot of time into the project and I have been fine with the delays. I don't think it matters anymore.

Sony had a chance to hit the 360 with a one-two punch and really make an impact, but now it's back to the dog-eat-dog battle they were in before, which they are still losing in terms of shear amount of games available on their system vs the 360.

Now we are back to the holiday battle again and Sony has made minor progress (mainly from mgs4). If Sony had pumped out LBP and Home earlier this year when nothing major was going on in 360 land... then Sony would be doing a lot better.

Anyhow, I have both systems and want both to do well, but from a company and progress point of view.. 360 gets more respect, for taking a system with lower specs and making the best use of it, having great software support and better pricing than the competition.

The Wii? We wont even talk about, because it's not a game system in my eyes.
