Chrono Trigger DS' extra dungeons revealed

The DS remake of the classic game, Chrono Trigger, has been announced to have an added mini-game. The mini-game involves the battling of monsters, either by yourself or with friends across the DS's wireless connectivity. While in-depth details on the mini-game have yet to be released, there are said to be 50 kinds of monsters, and winning a battle will result in a rare item.

You have to train the monsters in order to increase their strength, and as they gain strength their appearance will change.

In addition, information on the two extra dungeons in Chrono Trigger DS has been revealed:

- Dimensional Distortion
A mysterious dungeon suddenly appears. Travel through time to overcome the challenges, and reach the depths to claim a hidden power. Clearing the different parts of the dungeon will affect the End of Time in some way.

- Dragon's Sanctuary
In the last leg of the story, new gates to prehistoric times and the middle ages suddenly appear. Within the dungeon, one will have to complete various requests to continue. The quests gradually increase in difficulty, and you may have to go to a different era in order to continue. Help the reptites to reach the innermost parts of the dungeon. What could be waiting there...?

Nice. Time to dust off the ol' DS and beat this game again. I'm actually really excited for this.

Sounds so amazing! Cannot wait...*dies*

Hey, wait a minute... This sounds very familiar...
Oh, no, I'm thinking of Sword of Mana when they remade Final Fantasy Adventures.
Or is it Final Fantasy Tactics for PSP?
Maybe it's FFIV on the DS I'm thinking of.
Where could I have ever possibly heard of SquareEnix remaking a game and giving it just enough new content so that people will get it??

TruthbeTold5845d ago

Still, this is enough new content for me to buy it. S.E. are some evil bastards huh?

Well at least they aren't just throwing out the same game and are giving an effort by adding some fun features to an already sweet game :) I could still play my SNES version or you could still play the emulator you may have but it won't be the same as this DS game which is pretty cool

NeoSprtacus5845d ago

It's cool and all that they are at least adding content, but I'm too much of a Squaresoft fan to appreciate the games being changed like they are and have been, I just feel like I need a little more from them.. (let alone a DS and a PSP, so I'm left out) :P

I hear ya but I'm a big RPG fan in general and a bigger DS fan ;) So anything that gets put on the DS let alone an amazing game such as this is a good thing :)

I'm not sure what you mean though. Are you saying these changes are for the worse? Sure FFIV was released on the GBA not so long ago but the upgrade they did for the DS made it a whole new game basically and made it rock all the more. DQIV as well got a nice treatment in terms of goodness.

Squaresoft was a great company and I really enjoyed Enix for what it did too. So I really don't mind what Square Enix is all about and I think Enix has more to do with the upgrading with extras on the classics rather then a Squaresoft idea of just porting it same as always. imo

Though I can see if you don't have a handheld why you'd be upset with SE right now. They are focused with them at the moment but it's taking them a long time to develop games for the consoles because they demand so much!

The Industry Needs To Modernize These 6 Fantastic Classics

The Simpsons: Hit and Run, The Legend of Dragoon, and Chrono Trigger would benefit substantially from a modern remake.

Knightofelemia59d ago (Edited 59d ago )

The Xenosaga trilogy, the Wild Arms games, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, Suikoden. The Warriors game I know nothing about but it looks interesting. Anybody can do a list of games they want to see get modernized I would lose my shit if Namco brought the Xenosaga trilogy to modern consoles.

It's already been said that they weren't motivated to do anything with the series unless the gang was back together, not really for any legal reasons.

I'm honestly happy with the Steam port of the game.
