Anyone know how this compares to earlier games in the series?

_-EDMIX-_3004d ago

In regards to sales? Half a million units is around what this Series has been known to sell

game4funz3004d ago

Which is good in my books. Cuz that means its been profitable...but it also means not a lot of the 55 million supposed player base support it.

_-EDMIX-_3004d ago

@game- how much of a 55 million unit install base is supposed to support a game like this? The PlayStation 2 had over 100 million users and still responded similarly to the first two games.

It's not saying they're bad games and it's not saying the installed base doesn't care about them it's simply saying that the 55 million is a very diverse install base of gamers you can't really find even a single game on any install base where 100% of the players all purchased it.

Gaming is diverse like that you could never expect 100% of an installed base to ever purchased anything.

Some people like RPGs some people like racing games some people like action games some people like fighting games it's always going to be that way you're not unanimously going to find an install base that all 100% purchase is a single title regardless of how great the game actually is that's like expecting a movie to get millions of views unanimously.

I mean consider that a hundred million people on the Wii in Skyward Sword only sold about 3 million units.

I mean unless you talk to to all 100 million of that install base how would you really know how much really wanted such a game?

That's actually just like this game how do you know the 55 million that on the platform all 100% unanimously even want this game? Can we really say that about any game?

I mean the point you bring up is a moot point, what install base 100% support any game?

zombiewombie3004d ago

Awesome. I look forward to playing through 6 next year. I want to experience that baby tossing scene.

OMGitzThatGuy3004d ago (Edited 3004d ago )

Around .2% attach rate of PS4 install base LOL, "Xbox don't support Japanese game like us PS gamers do therefore dont waste your money developing for Xbox"

ThatGuyDart3004d ago

A) Are you implying that this game would have done better on Xbox? I highly doubt it

B) This type of thing happens when there is almost no marketing for a game's release.

game4funz3004d ago

@ThatGuy

No...he is only implying that some people here assume too much.
And he's right. So much for ps base buys variety and japanese games but thats a really low number.

But yes. More advertising from sony would go a long way.

moegooner883004d ago

Except Sega knows what's best for its franchise sales, and how to profit from its western localisation. If game was going to sell on Xb1, they would have considered a port, but they didn't. Didn't waste their money developing for Xbox indeed.

_-EDMIX-_3004d ago

@omg- but how much are the Xbox install base was going to purchase this question mark at the end of the day more people still actually purchase this game who only PlayStation 4 and we're ever going to purchase this on the Xbox One Final Fantasy Akito HD only sold something like a thousand units on the Xbox One in Japan where it's sold over a hundred thousand units on the PlayStation 4.

You could count percentages all day but at the end of the day the software companies actually don't care about attachment rates they care about unit sales.

Also regardless of the marketing I did not see this game moving like a million units in the United States that is just a very unlikely as this game is very Niche and only for a select audience regardless of platform

This is a very very established series if it was ever going to move monster you units it's actually would have done so already

_-EDMIX-_3004d ago

You guys have to also consider Sega takes great consideration to Bringing these games to the West.

When they brought over Yakuza 5 they made sure it was digital only they're looking to not waste any money simply because this series in the United States is not moving extreme units in comparison to Japan.

So if Sega is worried about simply the fees regarding translation why would they spend even more money to bring it to a platform that doesn't even sell these type of games?

So you guys are correct the sales are pretty small so why would they then go to a platform in which the sales would be even worse? What you guys understand you're actually making an argument for it to never come to the Xbox in the first place?

I'm not sure they would be able to recoup their money back from the transfer job

trouble_bubble3003d ago

Internet says it's at half a million WW. Which is Sega's average over 10 years.

Not every game is made for ''murica, same way not every 'murican game makes it over there. Just ask MS

People can say all they won't about PS4,killing Xbox but they only saling 0.8% of their games of 65million which is bad .. you kind wonder why Xbox one Doing the game pass.. Xbox one game per system rate better... PS4 people not buying games!!!! This game a flop

Sunny_D3003d ago

What are you 10? The game came out 2 years ago in Japan. Why do you think Sega took so long to release if? They know these games are not the type to sell in the west.

trouble_bubble3003d ago

This game already made back its money and has had two more games come out since. You wouldn't grasp that concept though, since yours are always getting cancelled.

S2Killinit3004d ago

its a great game. and this is just in the "West". West is not the world. FYI.

Gamist2dot03004d ago

I think they would've sold more if it wasn't for the limited physical copies.

Dark_Overlord3003d ago

Agreed, quite a few places were out of stock, I had to go to a smaller retailer for my copy. Think Sega dropped the ball on how many copies they made available.

"“Sus” is short for suspicious. It was first used in Among Us where players discuss whether a player is responsible for murders in the spaceship." Nope. In use for a century. Simple googling would have done the trick. Funny article, but come on, do some research before you post something as truth.

Good article on "sus"
