Microsoft Responds to Mac Being Used in "I'm a PC" Commercials

SeattleTimes Writes: "I asked a Microsoft spokesman if Crispin Porter + Bogusky used Macs and Adobe software to create the campaign. The spokesman issued a statement in reply:

'As is common in almost all campaign workflow, agencies and production houses use a wide variety of software and hardware to create, edit and distribute content, including both macs and PCs.' "

Too late, this gaffe has already written the next Mac vs. PC ad where a downtrodden PC appears holding a pink slip, explaining how even MS has chosen "you over me."

The fact that Macs are being used in the workflow of Microsoft's campaign is going to drown out anything & everything they have to say.

"The spokesman pointed out that Apple store clerks use devices running Windows Mobile and that Apple licensed Exchange ActiveSync from Microsoft for the iPhone."

Yes, but Apple hasn't had a PDA of it's own on the market since the Newton was discontinued in the late 90's & ActiveSync was only licensed so iPhone could break the choke hold that Blackberry & Windows Mobile currently have on the corporate market.

I'm not sure I understand what MS is hoing to accomplish. The Mac vs. PC ads contrast Mac with satirical exaggerations of the "quirks" we all curse our PCs for & MS counters with "everyone's using it." I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that MS is completely out of touch with consumers brings their house of cards down in the next 5 to 10 years.

Yea, within 10 years most analysts agree that Windows will become irrelevant and Mac will take over. But Apple is going to have to open their platform before that can ever happen.

Even if Microsoft used mac software (which seems odd since there is better high end software available) only select few people will know this. Unless apple uses it in their smear campaign.

I have nothing against macs since I can recognize the good parts of the company (using american engineers which costs them more than out sourcing), but I have a great distaste for anyone that over states the enemies weaknesses in order to make themselves appear better, rather than just being honest. Leave exageration to politicians I say, because everyone knows they're jerks anyway.

Smear Campaigns? Do you think Apple started the smear campaign? Boy you need to go back into history books and read about the Apple vs. MS history. I still remember when MS bill gates telling everyone that DOS was a man's OS and that Mac OS was a children's toy. Yeah... guess where the first smear campaign came from? your favorite company.

Yea hes right, you think Apple started this whole trend?? You incredibly ignorant if you believe that. Maybe you should read about Windows rise over Apple. Apple doesn't even really grossly exaggerate either, most of the commercials are pretty accurate about Vista performace.

This is expected in business, you guys also know Microsoft saved Apple from the brink of bankruptcy right?

Were these ads by a internal Microsoft studio or by a third party? If it was a third party it holds little weight for the argument of "Mac is better then PC" or what ever people are using it for.
