5 Hours with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the Switch [Wccftech]

Wccftech:

"What’s most striking at this point, is how it is still managing to surprise me even in its early stages. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a game that, prior to this, I have accumulated almost three hours of time with, total, in various demo versions of the game, on both Wii U and Switch. But here, now, my 15-minute time limit is unlocked and I can roam the world infinitely – and, gosh, what a world it is."

It would look better running at 4K with HDR. Still decent though!

Neonridr3037d ago

yes because games are only fun when they are pushing 4K.

I guess the Last of Us on PS3 was complete garbage the first time through.. /s

Nitrowolf23037d ago (Edited 3037d ago )

@neonridr

He said look better not play better, and he's right but anything would look better running on a 4K with HDR so it's a silly statement to make regardless

anyway yes the game does look amazing. It has a very beautiful art style that'll most likely hold up in time

bouzebbal3037d ago

Does anyone know how long time the dungeons need to complete?
This was the weakest point of the last 3 zelda games, they were so short way too easy.

EddieNX 3037d ago

Itl be great playing it on the go on and apparently looks incredible on the Switch's 6.2" screen. This isn't a 4k console its a handheld lol. And the game looks gorgeous even at 900p.

XStation4pio_Pro3037d ago (Edited 3037d ago )

Agreed. Imagine if it had the power of the PS4 pro how good they could make it look. I mean it's a pretty game already but they could have pushed it to 11 with that power. And what they say is true - once you see hdr, you can't unsee it so going forward, any game without it will feel a little "muted" to me. I already feel this way when I play non-hdr games currently now that I have some hdr supported titles. And also - if people don't think power matters, imagine if zeldas world had the fidelity of Horizon Zero Dawns world - it would be absolutely stunning. They could go nuts with character design, details and animation as well.

@Neonridr:
It's not that games aren't fun, when lower fidelity, it's that the standards of visual fidelity are changing and it's a shame that a new console can't take advantage of new tech that other consoles can. Going forward consoles will be utilizing newer tech to pop that wow factor and make those worlds more immersive and Switch will just be stuck in 4 years ago. It's like choosing between a Toyota and a Mercedes if they were priced nearly the same.

_-EDMIX-_3037d ago (Edited 3037d ago )

I make sure generally speaking any game will look better with those settings

@neo- relax stop getting so emotional his comment says nothing about the gameplay it's simply saying the game would look better not that it looks bad which technically can be said about any game.

@Bouz
Well, once you're off the great plateau, you can head straight to Hyrule Castle if you want, without doing any dungeons.XD
Having said that, it will probably vary depending on your skill level, but I imagine the bulk of your time will be spent in Shrines, not the main dungeons. I'd expect the smallest of the main dungeons to take about an hour, if you speed run them, but that's just my guesstimate based off of my own times the first time through, when I was younger and less experienced with how Zelda dungeons work.

This is going to be my first Zelda game I have played since ocarina of time on the N64. Am a little worried about it to be fair. I have tried not looking at any previews of it as I want to experience everything first hand. But I have noticed one thing in the small amount of previews and screenshots I have seen. The world just looks really empty.

Which I worry about. I like open world game. But only when their is something constantly going on. It's why MGS5 is my least liked MGS game. As the open world was so boring and bland and empty.

Nitrowolf23037d ago

Thats my biggest concern.

The game looks great combat wise, but the world just feels "empty" from every preview i've seen.

Except the world in Metal Gear Solid V was never specifically created for you to take advantage of such things.

The open-world in Metal Gear Solid V was created to give you opportunity by having a series of options of how you enter a specific Mission you could go in by night or by the clarity of day you could go in when the weather is rough you could go and when the weather is clear you could go in with a vehicle or by horse you could enter however you feel like it the open-world was simply made to allow more things that you could do and how you tackle emission.

Metal Gear Solid is not an open world RPG it was never created for you to do those specific things inside the world so if you decided to play Metal Gear Solid 5 and you look for something to do when they open world other than tackling the missions why did you play Metal Gear Solid 5 with the expansion of doing something that the series has not even been known to do in the first place?

I would argue with some of the best missions in the Metal Gear Solid series exist inside of Metal Gear Solid 5 simply because of all the numerous variations on how you could take on a mission some of the hardest missions I've played in my entire life in the Metal Gear Solid series exist in five simply because if they give you a very open-ended way of going after a mission

you are big boss you decide the time of day, how many men you're going to use what weapons are going to use what have you to tackle the mission, this is something that you cannot do in other Metal Gear Solid where you're basically forced to just do what everybody else is doing.

I'm sorry but I think you grossly confused the purpose behind its open the world why were you looking for something to do inside of an open world in a series has never even been known to offer something outside of what the main concept of the game is?

Let's get this clear Metal Gear Solid V was never created to be an RPG with a bunch of quest all over the place ,it's open world is simply there to allow you to specifically navigate your mission how you feel just.

Metal Gear Solid 5 open world is only blend to you because you were expecting something that was never even marketed for the game to actually be.

That's like me saying Zelda's open world is so boring and Bland simply because they don't give you an arsenal of guns to take out specific military bases.

Soooo when was best game ever advertised to actually be that in the first place?

Open world is not a genre

All games are not created equal

ocelot073037d ago

I appreciate the long reply from you. But my comment about MGS5 still stands. I have played all MGS titles including the crappy PSP card ones. I have also played Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2. All had the same formula go in be as stealthy as possible complete mission. This is how I like to play MGS and will always like to play MGS.

I understand on MGS5 I could go in anyway I wanted. Complete the mission anyway I wanted. But all I wanted to do was sneak in do the mission as quietly as possible and complete the mission. In fact that is all I did after a while instead of dropping in walk or drive across a very bland world. Kidnap some high level enemies then having to wait a week and a half for the extraction chopper to come in to take me back to base.

I wish it just had stayed linier to be honest. It's how the rest of the MGS games where. But this is not about Metal Gear. This is about Zelda and I also stand by that comment. The world looks at little bland. But am hoping that's just down to the few previews and screen shots I have seen.

_-EDMIX-_3037d ago

@oce- your point is literally irrelevant ,you actually never needed to travel to the world, you could just fast travel to each Mission and essentially play it like you play the previous ones , linearity is by choice in this game you choose to be linear if you want to no one's forcing you to explore the open-world.

So left options is better? Buddy play the game how you feel like it even myself being a huge Metal Gear Solid fan actually didn't waste that much time exploring the world I simply went mission to Mission the open-world is created that way to give you that choice.

So even though you could fast travel and essentially play it in a linear fashion you want to eliminate options to make you feel better?

Seriously help me understand what you're talking about....

I don't disagree with you with the world looking a little Bland in Zelda breath of the wild but only because it is the main concept of the game in regards to being an open world RPG ,the open-world concept in Metal Gear Solid was simply to give you options, it was never to give you some sort of exploration and side quest or anything like that.

In fact even if you were to get your wish and have the Metal Gear Solid games go linear like let's say Metal Gear Solid 5 and recreate it to be linear instead of open-world all you're basically doing is saying fast travel to each mission....

That is something you could already do by choice.

ie you're complaining about options.

Stealth formula in Metal Gear Solid 5 by default of the night and day system in by default of all the options given to you by far is more Supreme than any Metal Gear Solid game that's ever been created ,that's not being affected by being in an open-world you're basically complaining that the game is not something it was never made to be in the first place.

I put well over 100 hours in Metal Gear Solid 5 simply doing mission to Mission in only using the open-world to navigate how I'm going to complete a mission.

In fact come to think of it I don't even believe I've ever traveled from one area to the other by any vehicle to complete a series of missions I literally would just get back in the helicopter go to mother base and select the mission.

Again no one is forcing you to play metal gear solid as some open world exploration game it was never stated to be that ,you could simply play it as a stealth-based game as that's not affected by the open-world in fact I would say the elements put with the open-world are what make the actual stealth elements more interesting.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild (Switch 2)- The Best Way To Play, But Zelda Notes Sucks| NL

"

Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is undoubtedly the best way to play one of the greatest games of all time. The visual and performance enhancements remove any issues that you may have had to endure with the original game. It's practically flawless from that perspective.

Sadly, the Zelda Notes app really brings the whole thing down. Useful features that should have been implemented in-game have been relegated to your smartphone, and using it completely breaks immersion in this incredible world. I'm only thankful that it's not even remotely mandatory. Leave Zelda Notes to one side, and you've got the definitive presentation of a modern classic." - Ollie Reynolds | NintendoLife
