Shadows of Adam, at its heart, is exactly what the promotional material states: a love letter to the JRPGs of yore. Chock full of 16-bit goodness, this is a game that evokes nostalgia for those who opt to partake in the story. Young adults setting off on a quest to solve a mystery? Check. Vague, if someone ambiguous definitions of good and evil? Yup. An antagonist who is not clearly defined until later in the game? Right-O. So, how does all of it stack up compared to the greats to whom Shadows of Adam is paying homage?
Circle Entertainment and Something Classic Games have announced that the classic-style RPG Shadows of Adam is out now on Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop for $14.99 / €14.99.
While its runtime is noticeably short for a JRPG of this style – especially when compared to the classics it so closely resembles – Shadows of Adam is still a really enjoyable experience while it lasts.
Shadows of Adam (by @SomethingClassc) arrives on #NintendoSwitch eShop on 3rd May, but pre-loading starts on 26th April with a 10% discount ($13.49USD / €13,49)! A stylish take on SNES-era JRPGs, it's a complete edition (inc. previous DLC)!
I find it hard to take 'homages to 16-bit JRPGs' too seriously considering how many of them there are out there and how easy they are to make in today's age considering the tools available.
