For Honor is The Best New Fighting Game in Years | Rash Bandicoot

For Honor is a game full of surprises. Coming in with nothing more than watching a bunch of trailers and a rather lukewarm marketing, I expected a simple half-baked MOBA with pretty graphics. Thankfully I was wrong. For Honor is not only one of the best fighting games I played in years but could easily be this year’s sleeper hit.

It's not a fighting game. Injustice 2 and Tekken 7 are.

I agree. Also, any hype for the game seems to have died down. I just don't see many people excited for it. Considering the high praise the combat system is getting, maybe they actually should have made it a fighting game, with brutal bouts in colosseums and between warriors across history.

Ryse tried something like that to limited success. TBH, I'm surprised to hear For Honor doesn't have anything similar.

There's over 150 thousand concurrent players playing the game persistently. It's pretty popular. Much more so than any traditional 'fighting game' has been in the last 10 years.

I never said it should be a traditional fighting game, just that it might work better in an arena format focusing on the duels. It'd be fighting game, but very unique and different. Heck, they could even keep the multiplayer battles as an alternate mode, but the focus of the game would be a little different and it would allow for them to include more types of fighters across history for the duel part of the game, at least. Also, concurrent players launch week aren't exactly a great representation of how a game is doing.

Imo It's deeper, more expansive and much more fun than classic fighting games.

I would agree with you. One on one fighters tend to get old pretty quick.
