Final Fantasy VII PS4 Remake and Kingdom Hearts III Get New 1080p Direct Feed Screenshots

Tetsuya Nomura keeps on the teasing of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III with brand new images.

After E3 2015 people said we wouldn't see it again for years..... then we saw it a few months later running in real time. Now we are seeing it again. I'm not sure what the problem is here?

Taking too long or announced too soon?

Its common knowledge now that square enix likes to take their time with final fantasy and kingdom hearts games. If this is being developed as multiple full games, as they have stated, is it fair to say its taking to long your that you want it sooner than it will be available due to the game being announced sooner than it should have.

You figure out that answer. And you may start enjoying more games that otherwise lost your own hype

ummmmm........ Did you guys catch this look at the menus..even after looking at the NEW image it STILL has a menu system. Look on the lower left.....MAIN menu selections are ATTACK......MAGIC.....MATERIA. ..ITEMS. This is looking SWEET!

Not only that they don't call it menu but COMMAND but if you look to the left and right of it you can see that there is more of the COMMAND menu by pressing L1---R1............I'm guesing the others are DEFEND....SUMMON...and RUN. Previously a year ago they had DEFEND on the first menu system....Obviouly they didn't forget to take the menu system off. So it can't be a simple hack and slash. Otherwise why would they only take the DEFEND menu selection off the first one? Look:

Also previously I remember a lot of people saying they would like the Active-Time-Battle system (ATB) Well if you look at the bottom right of the image you will see the ATB gauge on both characters. One is almost full, and one is not. I kinda like that but I also kinda like the way they was all to gather in the GRANDIA series. I will see how it plays out.

So I haven't watched anything from this for a while, but are they going with some sort of partial turn based system, or is it more like KH, where you it's more action oriented with some commands which can be issued quickly. The menu system they showed in the screen shots weren't much different than the original FFVII, but also seemed kind of like KH.

How is SE infamous with ridiculously long development times? FFXV is about the only game I can think of that went into development hell. KH3 they just took a long time to actually get around too, but it seems like it's going fast enough from when they started it.

Since its early development, they are likely running a lower resolution with little to no AA, so its normal for it to look like that

Agreed, both really look amazing.. somehow the screenshots remind me of vs13 years ago, hoping the 7Remake development doesn't follow and actually releases.

They went straight with the unreal engine so that should speed up development times considerably. The custom engine being used 13 and vs 13 was the first stumbling block for vs 13 because they stopped development of the game so they could get the engine fixed for ff 13s release.

You do know FF15 was developed from the remains of FF vs13 right? The one that SE never even bother to finish. Even then it took 3+ years to make, and keep in mind that they start with some assets were already done. So I'm glad they choose a common used game engine.

Ok ok ok ok, that first FF7 remake screenshot of the battle system actually looks pretty good, because I can see menus.
Hope it's more of a FF12 approach but improved.

No opinion on KH yet, I've not seen enough.

I'm wondering though if you press "Attack" will they Auto attack or will be be like Kingdom Hearts where they will hit the target as much as you press the Attack button

From what it looks like to me, there's gonna be a bit of free running and such, but ultimately you choose attack or whatever in order to attack instead of combos and such like FF15.

Hoping for a playable Ps4 demo release during E3 2017 and a 2018 release date for Episode 1/Disc 1. But knowing this is a Tetsuya Nomura game, I'm keeping my expectations in check (because.. Versus XIII)

Tetsuya Nomura game? You mean Kingdom Hearts? since KH 2, his team always releasing KH games in every year or 2.. So whatever happened to Vs13, Nomura and his team isn't directly responsible.. that is fully SE's fault at making stupid promises, just like this FF7:Remake

Mobile spin-offs don't count. Kingdom Hearts 2 released in December 2005 (11 years ago) and we have yet to receive a release date for Kh3. Also IMHO, Nomura-san is the better artist and Tabata-san is the better director.

What do you mean don't count.. it is his works, his games.. He keeps making games, products, and therefore income for SE.. What I mean is SE's team is fully packed with 13 trilogy and KH Spinoffs, hence the FFvs13 never getting done while Nomura's team keeps making KH games. Doesn't matter if you don't count it, it happened.

Besides, the spinoffs counts. KH2 storyline made the franchise's lore too deep and sometimes confusing which makes a way for spinoffs (The story of the first one is actually very simple and straightforward). This makes me remember of how the focus change the square and enix merger, where the proposed vision was to make sequels and spinoffs from beloved franchise. This is clearly what causing KH spinoffs, FF7 spinoffs, and the infamous nova crystallis. This why I blame SquareEnix.

Any way if you are really a fan, you should play the spinoffs it's good. The one I really like is Birth By Sleep.

The reason why Versus 13/XV took so long was due to the fact that they built a rendering engine from scratch and even changed engine at one point. If I recall correctly back in 2006/2007 it was initially called the white engine, to be used for FF13 and Versus 13, then renamed to crystal tools, then sometime later it was announced that Versus 13 would use luminous studio or something. For the FF7 remake we don't have to worry about that because they're using unreal engine 4, already complete and loaded with all the features they could want.

Agree. Don't get me wrong, im a huge Nomura fan but I also acknowledge that Hajime Tabata was the one who actually got things done for Ff15, on top of Nomura's concept/vision. Respect them both. BTW nice avatar, huge Team Ico fan here myself!

Nomura keeps being given various projects to direct. FFvXIII took so long because the dev team had to work on FFXIII for a set time before it began major development on its own project

Looks like character models of a lot of work to be done for FF7 R. Very jaggie on the edges. I don't remember the gameplay videos having those so it's possibly just the image taken, I don't know.

notice the ATB bars, and that Cloud's is full and has a button prompt next to the ATB bar "triangle", and the same prompt above his model "triangle". Probably how character switching/commands are given to party members when the ATB is full i am guessing. Looks really cool.

Maybe the triangle is to use your limit break? It says "LV.1" next to it. Braver!

A more realistic Final Fantasy VII. Times have changed. If you want to play the original Final Fantasy VII then by all means go ahead. The original game was what got me in to Final Fantasy franchise in the first place and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the remake turns out.

Anyone notice how there are 3 limit bars? I wonder if you'll be able to use 3 in a row? Or maybe certain limits will require one bar, and others two bars? I'm really interested if we can do this, kind of like Advent Children or Dissidia where you're incorporating Limits into the battle.

Looking crisp. Seems odd that they have a separate command for Magic and Materia though. Maybe abilities under Materia are command materia (yellow) abilities like Steal and Deathblow etc. If that's the case, they should change "Materia" to "Command", and "Command" above the menu to, I don't know, "Battle" or something. I can imagine "Summon" appearing as an option if a summon materia is equipped.

Also, I wonder how the ATB works? Seems like maybe you can let it fill up multiple times and carry out three successive actions? Though I'm sure some actions cost several ATB gauges too a la Lightning Returns. It also seems that you can expend ATB gauges in another way by pressing triangle - wonder what that's about? Maybe you can hold down triangle to defend or dodge until the gauge runs out a la XV.

Then of course there's the limit gauge - I wonder why it has three parts? Maybe you need to fill up 2 parts for level 2 limits, 3 for level 3, etc.

Yeah FFXV was the same way. For years had jaggies but once it was released looked like the best game graphically I've ever seen. Plus KH2.8 was on Unreal Engine 4 and it's graphics were ace at release.

To everyone complaining about little thing's in these Final Fantasy 7 remake screen shots (Ugly hud/ jaggies etc). We should be grateful Square are doing this remake for us (I know I am). We've all asked for them to do this for years and year. They always said no. Now that they are, we are complaining about it? What's wrong with everyone?

It's because a lot of these people held FFVII to an absurd standard. If the remake isn't exactly to their imagined ideal, they rage. I am an enormous fan of FFVII myself, played it through at least 10+ times throughout the years. Yet I'm not upset on the changes we've seen so far. Let's face it, the game needs a little modernization. It's been what? Around two decades now? Like you said, at least they're giving us something. Considering how long it has been, it's natural to see some changes with the way things work. Our memories will always keep those treasured moments from the original... Let them present it to us in a new way. Having some surprise mixed in with the nostalgia is a great recipe for success in my eyes.
