Here’s what Nintendo Switch demo stations at GameStop look like

GameStop has already started setting up Switch demo stations / kiosks at their stores. And they look very different from Wii U kiosks.

Nice! Nintendo is ready to slay again. Lol

superchiller2992d ago

Just like they did with the Wii U, right? Oh wait ...

Vegamyster2992d ago

The Wii-U had some many flaws starting with it's name and the marketing was so bad that it wasn't even funny. I'm not sure how well it will do in the long run but I'm pretty confident that at the very least it'll do much better than the Wii-U due to the marketing and having bigger games in it's first year.

If every company just gave up after one failure you wouldn't have Sony you wouldn't have Apple you wouldn't have Google you wouldn't have any. Grow up.

The Switch is going to fail. Nintendo failed to address the problems that they had with past consoles like the Wii U. As the saying goes, "Those who fail to remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

MrMagz2992d ago

Please elaborate on what mistakes they actually are repeating. I see comments like this all the time, but never actually hear what exactly they are referring to.

superchiller2992d ago

Sure:

* Weak CPU and GPU (much older tech)
* Only 4gb RAM (not enough to compete)
* Only 720p screen (should have been 1080p at least)
* Weak battery (3-5 hrs)
* Almost no 3rd party support
* Terrible launch lineup (one good game, and a few other shovelware titles)
* No pack-in game
* Competing against consoles that are much more powerful, cheaper, and include bundled games
* No ethernet port on dock (cheap)
* Nontraditional dpad on joycons

The list goes on. Nintendo cut corners like crazy on the Switch, they care more about maximizing profits than delivering solid gaming products for the money.

The CPU and GPU in the PS4 and Xbox and Pro and Scorpio is also "old tech"
It has way more ram then the PS3 did and this is a hybrid.
ALL hands on impressions have said the screen is beautiful.
Calling no 3rd party support when the systems not even out yet.
Battery life is great especially for running a game like breath of the wild in its slim build.
No other consoles launched with a pack in game.
You're correct the dock should have an ethernet port on it that's BS, but not a deal breaker.
I haven't tried the controller setup yet so I can't say.
The Wii U failed because the branding and the concept it was built around was stupid and it looked like a fisher price toy. This system is far more appealing right of the bat. I believe it will far outperform the 3DS's sales.
No system that has a Smash bros, a Zelda, and a Super Mario, and a Pokemon game is going to fail.

"The CPU and GPU in the PS4 and Xbox and Pro and Scorpio is also "old tech""

Both of those systems came out in 2012, but still have better CPU and GPU than Switch

"It has way more ram then the PS3 did and this is a hybrid."

Seriously? The PS3 came out in 2006, over 10 years ago! You're bragging about the Switch having more RAM than a 10+ year old system?

"ALL hands on impressions have said the screen is beautiful."

Nintendo hasn't been known for having "beautiful" screens in ANY of their handhelds. The 3DS is their most recent one, and those screens were washed out, dull, low-res junk.

"Calling no 3rd party support when the systems not even out yet."

Maybe because almost no 3rd party games have even been announced, much less been given release dates?

"Battery life is great especially for running a game like breath of the wild in its slim build."

No, battery life is terrible for a handheld system. Nintendo cut corners on the Switch battery just like they did on the Wii U gamepad one.

"No other consoles launched with a pack in game."

So? The Switch has to compete with the current generation consoles (PS4 and XB1), whether you like it or not. Both of those cost much less money, feature much better hardware, and include pack-in games.

"You're correct the dock should have an ethernet port on it that's BS, but not a deal breaker."

It's just another example of how Nintendo cuts corners when designing their gaming hardware. No excuse for that feature to be left out in 2017.

"I haven't tried the controller setup yet so I can't say."

The individual joycons are tiny and don't look comfortable for home gaming. You'll need to spend an additional $70 to get a decent controller when gaming at home.

"The Wii U failed because the branding and the concept it was built around was stupid and it looked like a fisher price toy. This system is far more appealing right of the bat. I believe it will far outperform the 3DS's sales."

I agree with your assessment of the Wii U, but it also failed because the Wii U was too gimped to be able to run its own generation games. The Switch is very unlikely to be more successful than the 3DS; it's going to have a hard time even matching the Wii U.

"No system that has a Smash bros, a Zelda, and a Super Mario, and a Pokemon game is going to fail."

False. The Wii U had all of those, yet it failed.
