The Nintendo Switch can downscale resolution to 480p while docked in TV Mode.
What else has 480p resolution? Gamecube games.
PS4, Xbox One and Wii U all support 480p for SD source content, including older retro games which typically look better in 480p. This could hint that the Nintendo Switch will support Gamecube Virtual Console games, and at the very least make older NES/SNES/N64 games look better on digital HDTVs.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution launches summer 2025 on modern platforms—20 years after its original development was shelved.
Glad they didn't change the art style. This is looking good.. Why did they change the way the characters look anyway? The very first style was kind of ok, it was fine by Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse.. both in game sprite and the dialogue popups, why keep changing it? I am not as fussed on her newer look. She's looking kinda too dark or sunburnt now.
Today, Marvelous Entertainment announced its financial results for the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2025.

Only if Toys for Bob has done the remaster. This one is just a port with widescreen support which can be done easily with duckstation and other emulators, stable framerate which also can be done with duckstation via CPU emulation option and slightly better analog controls. I hope at least this release will have crt shader support, which by the way duckstation and other emulators like retroarch also have. I know I am repeating my self but ps1 emulation is so good in 2025 that u can play most of the games with widescreen, stable 30fps and even 50 or 60fps if lossless scaling is used.
Reaching a bit. 480P is there as not all HDMI TV's support 1080P and up.... there are, lower end 480P only sets out there as well. It's not there to make older games look better, it's part of the HDMI standard and is required. Also, Some devices downscale whatever resolution you feed into it to 480P (think cheaper projectors and convertors to VGA) and setting a native resolution looks better than a higher resolution and depending on the device's downscaler to do the work for you.
Them digital triggers on Switch controllers though makes me think people would have to buy a separate controller with analog triggers to play GameCube games on VC
480p support on my Xbone, still waiting for that guaranteed Xbox OG support! /s
That logic is so bad. And I suppose they'll reach to say having USB-C means it'll support any docking station too.
