PS4 Pro Ultimate Retro Edition looks fantastic

There’s a PS4 Pro Ultimate Retro Edition currently available from ColorWare and it really does look the part.

That's Epic! The controller is also classic as well.

Yeah.. it's really cool. Be prepared to pay $900 for it. Out of stock? Must have been very limited. Probably only had a couple 100 of those.

Says they only made 25 of them.

XanderZane3010d ago

Lot less then I thought. They should make a lot more since the demand seems to be high, $900 is way to high though. I still have my original PS1, so that's enough nostalgia for me.

That does look slick. I want one. I have such fond memories of playing Tenchu, Wipeout and other games on the first Playstation. Plus, I just like the way it looks. Too bad they made so few. Hopefully they'll make more.

Oh man, ps1 holds so many memories for me as well. Final fantasy 7 and 9, fftactics, twisted metal, resident evil 1 and 2, tales of destiny, Tekken, metal gear solid, Street fighter alpha 3... So much more... Golden time. 😁

Tenchu, Tenchu 2, Xmen mutant academy 1 and 2, and Tekken 3 were my go to games on the original PS.

What a beauty!
PS1 really didn't age! It has an amazing design.

I think all retro consoles still look great. It's a shame modern consoles take the "I must look good in the living room" approach to design instead of the cool bedroom look of the olden days.

Well, we have to consider what they've become. We only recently came to the conclusion that gaming is a timeless hobby; in the past, most would consider it a child's means of passing the time.

Now, gaming does not discriminate by age or gender, but they also need to look like living room all inclusive entertainment devices (because, in reality, they are).

Just my two cents. I believe the designs of recent devices really illustrate this direction well. We don't really need standalone Blu ray players, VCRs, or whatever people put under their TVs now. Controllers being wireless also help to drive that point home.

Anyway, by design, my favorite console is the PS2 slim. To this day, we've never seen anything like it. It's as big as a "lengthy" children's book and in my opinion immune to overheating wherever you put it.

How far back are we calling retro? The original Xbox looked really good, but the 360.... Ugh.

XanderZane3011d ago

Love the way the Dreamcast looks. Still one of my favorite game consoles. I like the OG PS3 Slim as well. Very well made and looks nice.

Just bought the ps4 pro yesterday and, man, is it gorgeous. From the pictures, I thought it looked too big, clunky, and all around ugly. But when up close and personal, it just looks classy like it is in a league of its on (aesthetically speaking). Same goes for the Xbox One S compared to the original. I can't believe the size of the pro at 11.5" X 12.75" X 2.25 when the Xbox One S is 11.5" X 9" X 2.5". Wonder if the Scorpio is going to compete, in dimensions, that is.

My ps gold classic edition headset would go perfectly with this theme. Maybe I'll pick up a skin from Dbrand.. Hopefully they have this throwback style.

Very cool. Does the controller look Retro as well?

Fishy Fingers3017d ago

If only there were a video.... Yes. It does.

ClayRules20123017d ago

Lol, I didn't look at the article. I won't lie. I just looked at the "Headline" picture. I was busy...

Anyways, thanks for letting me know it does, bud. Have a great day!

It's a standard PS4 controller that is coloured the same as a Dual Shock 1 controller although IMHO it does look nice.
