The Team Deathmatch mode in For Honor has come under scrutiny, questioning how players actually approach it.

and it will be the downfall of the game, they built the combat for a 1v1 duel, yet everyone is going 2v1

PapaBop3008d ago

That's why myself and friends stick to duels mode, the majority of people there appreciate the 1v1 nature more, even in 2v2 when one dies, seems that most people hold out and let the other 2 finish their duel first. Definitely a lack of "Honor" in For Honor though in the bigger modes.

Goldby3008d ago

its probably the same people who make fight clubs in Dark Souls and such.

There is honor in duels when the players enforce them.

PapaBop3008d ago

^^^ Yeah there definitely a dueling community out there. It was the same with Jedi Academy back in the day too, if you interrupted people's duels, admins would kick you from the servers.

When Contracts force you to have to 'try' or play Dominion and Elimination modes, which is 4v4 - the issue is they fucked it up and changed a lot inbetween Open Beta and Launch version. They put buffs in Elims when it's supposedly meant to be like CSGO Logic - Kill all the enemies once no respawn, best of 5 rounds - the problem is you have mob mentality scrubs running around collecting the buffs, avoiding any fights until they're rigged the fuck up with powerups - then when they decide to start fighting? It's ganking your teammates who're 1v1'ing and finishing you off 1v3 or 1v2 until you're the last one left and it becomes a 1v4 gankfest.

The other issue is that even though Respawns are off? REVIVES aren't - and being REVIVED grants FULL FUCKING HEALTH so if you DO kill an enemy with pure skill, if you DON'T execute them? They'll be revived, so you HAVE to stand at their corpse to ensure they don't get respawned, in doing so? Your teammates may die and you'll lose if they're not as skilled.

TL;DR - I'm okay with 1v1 and 2v2 Brawls - but 4v4's is full of fucking cancer. Ubisofts' modes and how they allow BUFFS and Revives simply incite the inner-scumbag of the players to be as scummy, toxic, and cancerous, cheap and unfair as they want to be - because WINNING even at the cost of being cheap as Fuck and Dishonorable is more incentive than playing FOR FUN and WITH Honor.

They HAVE to remove Revives and remove the Buffs - that'd help greatly as is.

I love this game so far, but this is a very valid point. I've stuck mostly to 1v1. Its an awesome experience. No other game has done anything quite like this. The feeling of circling each other waiting to see what the other is going to do or who is going to swing first is a feeling unlike any other game. Unless you're fighting a Viking. They always seem to come in swinging. Filthy Vikings.

LgbtWarrior3008d ago

U mean what the souls series has been doing for years?

CorndogBurglar3008d ago (Edited 3008d ago )

No thats not what I meant. At all. Mostly because this game couldn't be any more different from the Souls series. Controls, the feel of your character, the world itself is mostly bright and colorful, the stretegy involved is totally different.

Maybe try playing the game before making comments like that to people that actually have played it. Just a thought.

SoulMikeY3008d ago

Corndog, except maybe re-read your comment...

"No other game has done anything quite like this. The feeling of circling each other waiting to see what the other is going to do or who is going to swing first is a feeling unlike any other game."

Uhhh... you just described DARK SOULS moron. Maybe don't be such a dickbag when you're the idiot. It may "control" differently, but your statement is exactly what dark souls IS. He wasn't saying it controls the same or anything, he said your statement is what DS has been doing for years. And it's true, not up for debate.

God I hate asshole douchebags.

spicelicka3008d ago

Calling someone "douchebag' and "asshole" doesn't get your point across any better, and only makes yourself look like a douchebag asshole.

You can't extract his one sentence and use that to make your pointless argument. What I got from his comment was that this game is one of the only multiplayer PvP sword-fighting games.

Dark souls does not play like this. Don't try to shove you perspective in people's throats. You use your left and right triggers to lock on and the thumbsticks to fight. The target locking and offense/defense mechanism is very unique to this game, not to mention it has dedicated multiplayer modes.

We get it you're a Dark souls fan, but your comment does not portray what you think it portrays.

CorndogBurglar3008d ago (Edited 3008d ago )

@ SoulMikeY

Let me rephrase then because I can see how maybe my comment was a little vague.

The controls of For Honor lend tremendously to the feel of the combat system, as well as the tension that I described when I mentioned circling each other and waiting to see who will attack.

Why, you might ask? Please allow me the pleasure to explain. In For Honor you are given 3 directions in which to block. You are also given 3 directions to attack. Left, right, and high. In order to block an attack you need to GUESS, or KNOW from your enemies movements, which direction they are attacking from, and then you need to defend in that direction. This lends an elevated level of tension to battles that not even Dark Souls' single block system can match. Take that, along with the fact that you are fighting other human players, the strategy, controls, setting, characters, level of customization, and overall feel of your characters and you are left with a game that isn't quite like any other.

As for my response that you clearly did not like, the only reason I responded that way is because LGBTWARRIOR responded to my perfectly non-aggressive comment with a snarky tone. He could have just as easily brought up Dark Souls and I would have explained myself in a friendly way. But he didn't. And I suppose I shouldn't expect you to understand based on your completely un-called for response to me.

I hope your day gets better, pal.

LgbtWarrior

The gameplay is more complex and immersive than Dark Souls. Each player has 3 stances to attack, and defend from, there is no universal block button. Its a similar set up that fight choreographers in film and theatre use, only simplified. Then you have parrys, guard breaks, throws, unblockables, outside defends when fighting more than one player, buffs, and environmental hazards. There is a lot more going on than Dark Souls. You should give it try, its pretty amazing, especially with friends. Personally I believe it has just created a new multiplayer genre.

Yeah nice try but you basically described dark souls, demons souls etc. the strafing, waiting to hit, come on boo. " It's a feeling unlike any other game"have you been living under a rock for the last 10 years? Nothing wrong with that. Dont get defensive because somebody called you out

Rodney253008d ago

I always try to fight honorably. Let you boy finish their match of they lose give the other guy a few to get ready

AnubisG3008d ago

Oh, there is no honor in this game. Hahaha, they always go 2v1 or even 3v1 when they can.

alfcrippinjr3008d ago (Edited 3008d ago )

the downfall of this game will be the online play as its very boring quickly

campaign yeah and that about it

Critic4l_Strik33008d ago

well, i think it will be worth getting once it goes down to $20 then :P
