What I Hate About Apple

It took about 6 months to realize I'd become a worse know it all prick, if that's possible, and have since tried to repent by recommending PCs.

"I need a computer for writing papers and stuff" I say

Best Buy guy says "you'll want the mac book pro"

I look at the 1,200 dollar price tag, then look at a 400 dollar laptop with the SAME SPECS!

"whys it so expensive?" I ask

"It has a built-in DvD burner" He says

"So does the 400 dollar windows computer" I say.

"well you buy macs for the programs" He replys

Then I think for a second about all the trial ware and payed upgrades on macs.....

Then I say what every windows user has been trying to say but couldnt word it correctly.

"WHY AM I PAYING 1200 DOLLARS FOR A MAC WITH EQUAL SPECS TO A 400 DOLLAR COMPUTER? IS OS X THAT AMAZING? IS IT WORTH THE EXTRA 800 DOLLARS????? IF IM SPENDING THIS MUCH FOR A COMPUTER SHOULDNT SOME OF THE PROGRAMS THE PEOPLE BRAG ABOUT BE FREE???? Apple products are quite overated....

You could do the same thing if not better on a pc at a cheaper price... sorry but that is the fact... But one thing for sure they do look nice... but sony and asus laptops look nicer imo

you are dead wrong. Sorry but everything I do from editing movies to recording music is far superior on the mac OS I fought with PC's for years in the studio and lost many sound recording projects to the blue screen. 2 years on my macbook and I haven't lost a thing. Does this make me a better person than you...no, but it sure makes me happy to be crash free.

I find when operating a mac OS apple has done a good job in preventing the user from "messing" things plus it has a much cleaner interface ....... but I always found MS operating systems give MUCH more flexiblity in configuring alot of things whether it be software > hardware and there is so much more configurations you can do with the pc vs MAC.

This is something that has to be taken with care as to how the user uses the operating system. Quite honestly if you know how to use the operating system inside out and at the same time you should never encounter a blue screen of death. I have yet to experience a blu-screen of death in 7 years on my computers.

Through experience , Windows operating system crashing is ussualy related to how the end user maintains their computer. You would not believe how "noob" pc end users tend to have noticible instablity issues vs experienced pc users. For me the only time recently I've seen blu-screen of deaths are from faulty memory.... but this is something you cannot really blame on the operating system itself. Its not like apples dont have faulty hardware either.

At the end of the day Id rather have a pc over a mac because 1) hardware updates are more frequent 2) support for wider range of hardware 3) its more open to tinker with the operating system vs mac 4) price to performance ratio is better on pc

It's funny how apple fanatics bring up the idea that apple offers better software to do unique things.... sorry but pc software is out there that can have very similar functionality. Something that I guess casual users dont have the time to look for I guess.

I agree with you 100% regarding the customization and flexibility of the pc vs mac. I was adamant about the virtues of pc architecture for about 10 years. It is alot like a ca;r you buy a ferrari and you spend a ton of time tuning it for performance cause it can be made to run faster but at the end of the day i just want to drive to get groceries so i drive a honda.

When you buy a mac there are only periodic system changes so your garaunteed to be able to run the programs released for it. with pc and so many incremental upgrades you constantly are playing the upgrade game and thats when BSOD shows up like you said mostly with memory upgrades. Its alot like like pc vs console gaming.

In the end both systems have advantages and its up to the individual to decide what works best for them.

yeah totally agree with this article got a macbook pro 2.2ghz (lowest end of macbook pro's) last year. And since then I keep thinking to myself I could ahve bought a better laptop pc for half the price and bought myself a desktop gamer's pc as well. SCREW you apple !

check craigslist. You could sell your macbook pro and buy a one year old pc laptop and a gaming rig and still have enough left over for a new attitude.

I don't look at Mac owners as some group of snobs. The thought never crossed my mind until I read this article. Everybody who owns a computer makes their purchase based on their lifestyle. I work in the IT industry and every office I have worked in had PC's, I have yet to see a single Mac. My son's school teaches on PC's, my wife uses them at her work too. When I go to the local electronics stores, there are tons of PC software titles but maybe 1 or 2 for the Mac. This website has a PC tab but not an Apple tab etc. etc.

So for me the choice is very easy, PC's are everywhere and offer me the greatest bang for the buck. When and that's a big when, Macs become the dominant platform I will probably get one. But if someone buys a Mac because it makes them feel better about themselves then go for it.

I know exactly what this guy is talking about. People who own makes tend to know nothing about computers and general and act as if they are god amount tech fans. Not to long ago a friend of mine bought a Macbook air which in my opinion is the most useless pile of garbage ever. Yet he thought it was the best thing ever. The sad thing is he isn't a apple fanboy this was his first apple product. He was lured into how small the thing was so he bought one.

The other thing is that apple fans also tend to be snobbish and elitist as hell which is retarded when the thing you support cant do half the stuff a real PC can.
