It's been almost four months since Sony released PlayStation VR to the masses and despite a strong launch window, with a robust launch line-up, many are declaring the technology a failure.
Recent findings in the latest PSVR2 software update, indicates that PlayStation is already starting to implement support for PC.
The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
Warner Bros. Discovery is closing down Adult Swim Games, delisting its published games. Thus putting Rick and Morty VR in jeopardy.
VR doesn't have to be isolating, there are some amazing social platforms out there. Here are the seven best VR social worlds to explore.
Maybe it's just me but it kinda seems like "killer apps" are only now starting to surface so we'll probably see a lot more media coverage once a few more titles like Resident Evil 7 make their way to the platform.
Those declaring it a failure were the ones who did so before it came out with little to no knowledge, pointlessly using the PCVR solutions as a way to throw shade at the achievements and innovations of PSVR as if it made any real impact, and rallied to rain on its parade as it was coming out and doing the rounds at retailers everywhere.
Wave ONE is over, and it seems to have been pretty successful in setting out what they aimed to achieve.
Wave TWO began with a true killer app in Resident Evil 7. A fully fledged AAA game with no sacrifices made on either end of the spectrum in delivering an amazing horror experience. More so, it was the best Resi has been in years. I will get my hands on it soon enough, but from what I've read, it's a truly groundbreaking (and p*ss scary) VR title, and blueprint into how to make a masterful VR game.
I hope that games like Ace Combat 7 and Farpoint are not too far from release and are just as accomplished.
PSVR 4 months in is just that. 4 months in.
Always getting the impression from articles that somehow PSVR was supposed to replace the controller, couch gaming overnight. When it's supposed to add to your gaming. Supplement your gaming.
Not once has Sony said "this will replace gaming." Or "you are the wearer." Like "you are the controller."All Sony said was in order to UNDERSTAND it was to TRY it. And that you might find yourself impressed and immersed in what you see behind the visor. And developers, journalists and gamers said yes. We now understand what you meant.
Sony said PSVR would launch Oct 13. It launched on that day.Sony announced over 200 developers. There are over 200 developers. Sony announced at least 50 titles by year end. There were at least 50 titles by year end. Some detractors asked about full experiences that you can play. RE7 is the first full experience you can play.
Sony announced PSVR support for GT. Never said the whole game. That may change in the future. But Sony never said fully compatible as there are gamers who aren't interested in VR or want their game degraded in visuals. Namco announced Ace combat 7 with VR support. Never said the whole game. May change in the future. But PS4 may not be able to handle highly detailed games. And PS4 Pro is not getting exclusives.
But if I were these companies, you target the large platform of 60 million gamers. And pick up the VR gamers along the way. It's still supporting PSVR and we have no idea how many tracks or missions these games have to downplay their support.
Also, PS Vita wasn't dropped. Games still release and the system sells just as much or more as PS4 Pro in Japan. And, not knowing about the other unannounced games for PSVR makes assuming too premature to say it's not getting the support. Check back a year from now if things don't improve and then worry.
Bet theres more games out in those 4 months than the switch will have In 4 months.
In fact I predict psvr will outsell and outlast the switch.
Out sell out last switch don't make me laugh, your the kind that's declaring the switch a failure
Before it's even out. I'm not convinced by psvr it has a lot to prove, E3 will show if Sony are committed or not with any so called killer apps. I've tried psvr it's great but switch is more practical
For me than having a device stuck on my head.
