So, like, don't shop at Gamestop? Sell your old games on craigslist or Ebay like the rest of us who don't want $2 for our new release trade ins. It is sad they just toss items out though. Probably where all the PS2 versions of Dark Cloud went.

When organizations decide to implement policies that I don't like, I just vote with my wallet somewhere else. Haven't shopped at Gamestop in years and probably never will with they way they do things.

Ooh I can't stand this store

Ravenor3055d ago

Oh no someone asked if I wanted disk protection, the horror!!!! The most egregious example I can think of is ONE employee out of the many I've dealt with who seemed to think 360's were eating disks left and right. ONE. Danforth Shoppers World EB in East York.

Worst experience I ever had was an employee who called me stupid, because I didn't want a 360 back at the start of last gen.

Wasn't a GS policy issue, rather just an employee who didn't know his place in the customer/retailer relationship, where his personal opinion on my wants and needs was of no interest to me. I let him know as calmly as I could what that place was, then didn't shop at GS for years.

Walked into a new one on my way home one day, and it had great employees, so I shopped there for years until I moved, and I haven't made a decision on the new local GS....although it's a small town type place, so there's only one. They were alright when I got my PS4P though.

GS just is what it is. If you want to go browse for some games, they have them. If they have products you want, then sure, try them out. If you don't like their prices, shop elsewhere. If you don't like their policies, don't shop there. If you don't like what they offer for your used games, sell them elsewhere. Don't like having some upsell? Well, not many places you can shop at nowadays to avoid that. Even amazon upsells at checkout. So on and so forth. Never understood why people act like they're forced to shop there.

MFs has been beating their chests over great quarterly results and big profits to shareholders while firing people by the thousands just like Sony.

I wonder if at the top of those rumored layoffs they´ll also cancel upcoming or unannounced games while shutting down more studios as well.

"just like Sony"

Gosh you're insufferable, not everything needs to be both-sides'd. Sony's had layoffs, but nothing like what Microsoft has been doing and is continuing to do.

I mean, no offense, but this is why you’re not some corporate business person running a major corporation. Big profits don’t mean jobs are safe. Do you understand why things like this happen:

Cutting jobs to maintain or increase profitability, especially in underperforming divisions like parts of Xbox like other gaming divisions.

Corporate restructuring and relocating resources for strategic stability in ever changing markets and consumer behaviors.

Investor expectations and optimizing operations to maintain investor confidence. Whatever boosts stock prices and improves future margins.

And there’s many other factors at play. It’s never as simple as business doing well, everyone’s safe. That’s just you not understanding at all how corporations work and have been working since the beginning. This isn’t something that’s specific to Xbox, you can bet your ass Sony and Nintendo do this and if it’s not clear by now, game development is not a stable job nor has it ever been for many. A lot of developers are contractors and guess what happens when a project is done?
