Forza Horizon Dev, Playground Making a Non-Racing, Open World Game

"We've become pretty good at racing games, but we'd love to prove ourselves in a different genre."

RpgSama2726d ago

This is great for them considering they're an incredible developer, what worries me is that they haven't even opened their second studio, this means the new game will release at least in 2020, at the earliest.

OhMyGandhi2725d ago

excited as well. Criterion went from the Burnout series to making BLACK, which was one of my favorite shooters on Xbox. Even though, I don't have an xbox one, I would love to see what they could do!

chrisx2726d ago (Edited 2726d ago )

I can see others are being slowly inspired by Guerilla Games type risks with Horizon Zero Dawn. That's good. They even stated that their new game could possible even come to the Ps4...Show me what you got

gamer11382726d ago

IGN made that suggestion about PS4. I would be surprised if the game wasn't at least a timed exclusive for Xbox considering how closely tied playground have been to Xbox. Turn 10 and Playground have worked together on the Forza engine.

XXanderXX2725d ago

Screw timed , rather full on exclusive. Timed Windows are dumb either full exclusive or no deal.

uptownsoul2725d ago

Remedy had close ties to Xbox and the 2 new IP they're working on will not be tied to Microsoft (source: https://www.videogamer.com/... )...So close ties doesn't necessarily mean much.

Inspired, Tell me is Guerilla the first developer to work on a genre and then try out another? Think not.

Kiwi662725d ago (Edited 2725d ago )

News Flash GG weren''t the first nor the last studio to try something different to what they usually do, but you think that only studios linked to sony/ps are the only ones who are capable of doing this

Bruh2724d ago

Yeah but Playground Games was actually amazing in the genre they were working on before trying something new

rainslacker2723d ago

I say the more variety the better. I'm all for developers spreading their wings. It's easy enough to get into a rut if you keep making the same game over and over again, and quite a few of the top brass at a lot of studios tend to be extremely creative types, with lots of good ideas.

Would be very interested to see what their open world game turns out to be.

TheCommentator2725d ago (Edited 2725d ago )

Playground makes really good games. Can't wait to hear more!

Chaos_Order2725d ago

Good to hear. No doubting Forza Horizon is a solid racing series, but the devs may want to tackle something more ambitious.

Let’s School review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Well, this is uncanny. This school management sim bears a startling resemblance to Two Point Campus, especially when it comes to planning and decorating rooms. Be sure to add a window and a radiator, along with a plant or rubbish bin. Indeed, certain aspects are almost identical – it’s just like revisiting Two Point Campus, only something is…off. It’s the visual style that leads to the uncanny valley feeling, using a low-poly PlayStation/Saturn aesthetic. An odd choice, considering the 32-bit consoles didn’t have a great amount of management sims. The PS1 did have Theme Hospital though – with Two Point Hospital being Campus’ predecessor, so we guess we can give it a pass on its artistic intent."

I almost bought this yesterday lol. Then I remembered I have 1000 games I need to play and I would probably touch this once.
