Steep is the most important game on the Switch

The biggest question I and many others have for the Switch’s future success pertains to third-party support. Will the biggest cross-platform games be brought to Nintendo? And can their handheld/hybrid run them? The most important game coming to the Switch that no one seems to be talking about is Steep. This is a current-gen, cross-platform game from 2016 …

"Owners of multiple platforms will often be looking for the best version of the game"

I disagree with this. As someone who owns multiple platforms and is buying switch i will consider the actual game. Is this the sort of game i want to play on the go. Does it offer local multiplayer. If its a strategy game ( like xcom 2) does it offer touch screen controls.
Personally i think the majority of people that want the prettiest version of the game already consider switch "old tech" and have already decided against it. This is my opinion anyway.

As for steep. This is not a very good game, so let's hope this is not actually all that important.

wonderfulmonkeyman2658d ago

It's not. Not really.
Compared to Steep, Skyrim has a better chance of seeing decent sales on Switch, and that game is OLD.

conanlifts2658d ago

I agree. People talk about the "8 year old" game. Yet when it was releasing on ps4 and xbox people were hyped for it. For me i already own it on pc, so i was never too fussed. But i am tempted by having the ability to play it on the go, this portability is more appealing than the remaster. At least for me anyway.

Goldby2658d ago

@SD and Wonderful.

theres a difference though with the Skyrim that ps4 and x1 got and what the switch is advertising it is getting.

PS4 and x1 are special editions. switch looks to be the old 2011 skyrim

wonderfulmonkeyman2658d ago (Edited 2658d ago )

@Goldby
It doesn't look like the old version of Skyrim, dude.
If anything, at the BARE MINIMUM, it looks like a mid-step between the vanilla and special edition, but it leans much more closely towards the special than the vanilla.

And even then, your post isn't relevant to our point, which is that compared to Skyrim on Switch, no one cares about getting Steep there.

Goldby2658d ago

@Wonderfufl.

it may be a remastered or touched up version of the 2011 skyrim. but it isn't the special edition, or else Bethesda would ahve announced it as the special edition skyrim. no where in the adverts does it mention that.

but my point is relevant. i would rather take a snowboardign game made this year than a game made in 2011. only reason i picked up the PS4 Skyrim Special Edition was it was on sale, and i had a coupon. im not gonna blow 60$ on a game i can get on steam for all of 50 cents

this is true, one has to ask where is ghost recon on switch? or do publishers kind of want more family friendly game support on switch?

Selectgamer2653d ago

pubishers are wary of putting anything. Steep is a low-risk property for Ubisoft. They'll put Ghost Recon and everything else if the Switch gets a large enough install base

Selectgamer2653d ago

I have zero interest in playing Steep, but if the Switch can run games of that level, I'm assuming they can run future current-gen games.

sk8ofmnd2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

Zelda and Mario are the most important games on the switch in 2017.

Steep comming to switch hardly will sell when its been proven nintendo fans dont buy 3rd partys and esp not on a install base thats getting a hard reset.

conanlifts2658d ago (Edited 2658d ago )

I think switch will suceed, providing they release all of their announced games this year. If mario gets delayed until next year then switch will definitely stumble.

Kallisti2659d ago

Nobody's talking about because it's actually not important at all

SR3882659d ago

I had a rip on steep at my mates and we both agreed it wasn't great, it was fine as snowboarding games go but I prefer 1080 :)

Featuring_Dante2659d ago

"it isn't great because its not 1080p"
wow...

SR3882659d ago

Omg not heard of 1080? Get gaming! Lol

you my sir are a good man and. But the biggest L is they had was not putting in the division

Lon3wolf1561d ago

Would of swapped out WoW for Division personally.

Sono4211560d ago (Edited 1560d ago )

Nah the biggest L is they forgot to add the Pokemon Sword and Shield Wild area ;) You're supposed to be able to take one step and go from a sunny summer day to a cold cloudy winter right?

In all seriousness though, I would say Uncharted 2 deserves to at least be a runner up.

pwnmaster30001561d ago

Wait so no horizon? Why is it the cover page then lol

porkChop1561d ago

For all it's faults, The Division has some of the best winter atmosphere I've come across. Massive Entertainment really nailed that aspect.

bluefox7551561d ago

Interestingly enough, today was the first "heavy snow" day we've had in PA, it's weird, it's been a pretty mild winter up until this point.

F' their click-fest article...sleezy does it.

BeCaUsE iT's NoT sTeAm! If often the reason why people don't like epic

Mainman1871598d ago

You'd have to pay me to play those games. Even then I'm not so sure.

1599d ago
Spenok1599d ago

Dang, 3 free games for the first 10 days. That's awesome.

Iamnothuman121599d ago

At this rate I won't ever have to buy anything from their store.

Unspoken1598d ago

And you eventually won't have to use any other platform either. Smart move.

Father__Merrin1598d ago

Epic have really looked after people since its launch. i predict the store gets stronger and stronger in the marketplace

luckytrouble1598d ago

Nah. All Epic is doing is building a community of people that will just hang around for the free stuff. People that are happy to take free games aren't going to necessarily overlap with people willing to pay.

Whatever Epic's strategy here is, they aren't exactly doing much as a store.

1598d ago
RazzerRedux1598d ago

I’ve bought a few games on sale there. They have some good deals. It isn’t just about free games, but good deals and free games? Seems like a pretty good store strategy to me.

PMind1598d ago

I have purchased multiple games. Most of the free ones are nothing I would have bought but are a welcome bonus.
