Having played both extensively, I'd go with silent hill

I'd go with both if we are talking the older games they both have a different spot to fill imo.

edit: @bouzebbal

I find silent Hill to be more of a psychological horror which to me is far creepier especially with the freaky creatures that they designed like the weird babies and the nurses and it also made it worse when you had the radio on and you could hear that static going but resi especially the old ones like resi 1 , 2, 3 to be great survival horror not as scary to me but just as fun.

i think RE has a more of a blockbuster touch into it.
my favorite is Code: Veronica but the game that scared me most was Siren: Blood Curse. damn that thing was horrifying sometimes with those strange clickers.
Overall Silent Hill are better quality than RE. You can't go wrong with SH.

Silent Hill went down the hill :) . Resident evil really came back.

Both had their ups and downs. Silent Hills could have been something, I tell ya that. If only konami weren't stupid, they would have had one of the best horror game in the market and revive the Silent Hill brand again.

I'll take homecoming and downpour over RE 5 and 6 any day

_-EDMIX-_2789d ago

I guess I could agree with that. I didn't really care for homecoming or downpour all that much but at least they were actually really Silent Hill games as opposed to Resident Evil 5 and 6 masquerading as Gears of War rip offs lol

Agreed I think Silent Hill got a very short-lived popularity and somewhere after Silent Hill 4 things just went really downhill for them.

In my personal opinion Silent Hill 3 is the last good Silent Hill game in the rest sort of get pretty terrible.

Even though Resident Evil 4 5 and 6 definitely detracted from the original survival concept of Resident Evil they were still actually quality games.

I don't know if I could say that about some of the later Silent Hill games but I was definitely extremely excited when I heard Kojima was going to be making a silent hill game.

I believe 100% with all my heart that the Silent Hill game that Kojima would make was definitely going to be there Resident Evil 7.

Sillent Hill - The number 1 Psychological Horror ever, Resident Evil - The number 1 Survival Horror.

But if i had to choose i would choose Sillent Hill.

GrimDragon2789d ago

I always found silent hill to be more a like a depressing kind of creepy. But resident evil I find to be more on the terror side of things. So I vote resident evil for true horror.

A few years ago I would've said Silent Hill, but seeing as how Konami no longer gives a shit and would rather chase the pachinko market rather than make Silent Hills, I'd have to say Resident Evil is now the undisputed king of horror.

Thanks Konami. >.>
And thank you Capcom for going back to your roots and giving us not only one hell of a Resident Evil game, but one hell of a VR horror game to boot, not an easy feat to pull off!

Fantastic homage to a memorable part of the original. The authenticity to the source material is outstanding and blows away all of the pathetic Hollywood adaptations that we've had to endure as fans. The addition of Chris Redfield's original actor AND (separate) voice actor is fantastic! Heck, even the CGI was pretty good given the total budget of $55k to make this.

Yeah this seemed so much more like cannon to me. I’d watch more of it if / when it’s available.

I feel like they should have included the original games with the remakes they've been doing.
