Vitamin Y Brings Vitamin X Characters Back To The DS

Siliconera: It has only been a few months since a port of Vitamin X, Vitamin X Evolution, appeared on the DS. Like all Japanese dating games for girls, it did pretty well in Japan. In fact, it did so well that HuneX and D3 Publisher decided to do it again with Vitamin Y Super Supplement Minigames with B6 & T6.

Gamespot: TGS 2008: Vitamin Y Hands-On

Gamespot: "After perusing through the long line-up of games at D3's booth during the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, we came across a peculiar game called Vitamin Y: Super Supplement Minigames with B6 & T6. With the increasing popularity of water with vitamins these days, we could only imagine what a vitamin game would entail. Unfortunately for us, the game had a lot of dialogue, but once we got past that, we were able to play through a couple of totally unrelated minigames.

Different characters would pop up and talk for long periods of time and since all we saw was the character portrait and text, it was difficult to get a handle on what was going on. Once they were done jabbering, we were able to move around a map which brought us to some minigames. The first minigame had you starting on a dock and by pressing the A button, you were able to jump and grab a rope or vine, dangling from what we hope is a tree. You swing back and forth and hit A again to jump to the next vine and so on. This was mostly about timing and it was fairly easy to make it across."

The secret scandals in Vitamin X Evolution

Siliconera reports:

''It amazes me sometimes how some potentially controversial titles manage to slip under some sites' radar. Take, for example, the recent Nintendo DS release Vitamin X Evolution. It is a port of a PS2 otome game (dating sim for girls). Every good otome game has a gimmick, and the Vitamin X Evolution's is that players star as a female teacher who can enter a relationship with one of her six male students. Yes - the character with blond pigtails and a skirt is a boy. I'm positive he is a he.
It starts out fairly innocent. The lead character previously taught younger children at a ladder school, a type of school which covers all grades from elementary to high school, and occasionally even college. She's promoted to the high school devision and assigned classroom X, which is filled with troubled students. The task is to help straighten these kids out so they can actually graduate.''
