Why is Nintendo holding back on Switch Virtual Console?

Why isn't Nintendo talking about Virtual Console on Switch? Here's what it needs to say to convince me to keep my Nintendo Switch pre-order.

I'm getting it for physical games first and foremost, because cartridges are better, so only a few select indies, at first, will get my attention digitally.
Thus my preorder status doesn't depend on a virtual console that we all know is gonna start out small.

Everyone knows Nintendo doesn't listen to their fanbase, just their alternate facts

jaymacx3064d ago

that's not totally true. they have done better this Gen with Switch than they ever have. Granted they still have a long way to go.
Things they have Listened to so far
+Unified Account system
+More Robust Online
+put Wii brand behind them
+Well designed Pro Controller with all features minus IR camera
+Region -Free
+Universal Connectors for charging (USB-C) no more Nintendo only plugs.
+Combining Console with Handheld. This has been a dream for many due to game droughts and 2 versions of games.
Things they still need to do but as of yet have not Revealed
-Transfer of VC titles bought from WiiU/Wii to Switch
-External HDD support
-Voice chat not limited to just the App
-Bluetooth headphone support

1. Okay you need to get off the Nintendo koolaid as it isn't good for your health. Reggie himself said that there isn't a Unified account system but they have heard the request and they are looking into it, and he ONLY said that because he was directly questioned about it.

2. More robust online? In what way? They never said it is being improved.. they said maintaining servers costs money... they didn't say they were adding servers or fixing their garbage online, as a matter of fact they went backwards with online by making you need to use and app (which they are making you buy!!!!!) to do online voice chat and matchmaking!! WHAT?! and now you have to pay for it?! and all the give you with it is a NES or SNES game to play for a month and then they take it away?! Not to mention the switch is barely going to even have any online multiplayer games because it has no third party support! So why pay to play online on literally 3 games. Terrible.. absolutely terrible.

3. Wii brand is behind them but the Wii gimmick (which is what most people had a problem with obviously not just the name/brand itself) is back in full force! their 2 headline games for the switch (1,2, switch and ARMS) are based on the Wii gimmick! Clearly not left behind. Not to mention it's clearly built into the system with the joycons.

4. Pro controller you need to buy separate.. again.. yeah super excited.. as if the cost of this Nintendo games only machine wasn't getting high enough

5. Oh yes the one positive thing they did.. and I am glad they did it.. but I will certainly not applaud them for it as it was a ridiculous practice to begin with and has been left in the dust years ago by everyone else and Nintendo is once again playing catch up 10 years later.

6. same as before.. great and i'm happy they did it.. but just more catching up.

7. I have said this many times and I will say it again, it is a handheld! A dock does not make it a home console, no matter how many times Nintendo calls it one. It is a portable first and foremost, no ethernet port, and most importantly no way to charge the joycons and grip while playing in docked mode! With everything that comes in the box with the Switch the ONLY way to charge your Joycons is sliding them into the tablet. If that doesn't tell you that it is a portable first and foremost I don't know what will.

now to your not yet revelaed section... uhh... wtf you're delusional

1. They already confirmed you cannot transfer.... so yeah.. sorry bud

2. They haven't said anything but I can gaurantee this never happens, copy this comment and try to throw it back in my face later but I am %100000000 it will never happen.

3. In my opinion this HAS to be changed there is just no going around it.

4. It's confirmed the switch can't pair with bluetooth headsets? So once again I have no idea what you are talking about.

Now let me clarify what i was talking about earlier in the rising price of the Switch, it costs $300, now for the necessary joycon charging grip that's another $30, now in my opinion the added storage is necessary and the cheapest you can get a 1 TB sd for is $70 so we're already up to $400, but he lets not forget you need at least one game.. that's $460.. now most people are going to want the pro controller.. that's another $70! so now we're up to $530.. and with tax at the least that will be $550!! that is INSANE just to play Nintendo games!!! Becuase like I said.. there is no third party support... again.........

Now that online's a paid service, they have to deliver.

jaymacx3064d ago

yes they do. I hope their is enough backlash and we get similar free games like XBOX and PS.

Because Nintendo is just going to continue to be stuck in their ways

CrimsonWing693065d ago

Because Nintendo is going to sh*t all over the VC like they did on the Wii U
