Spider-Man PS4 In Separate Universe To "The Avengers Project"

Josh from Start Replay says, "After the exciting news that Square-Enix are teaming with up with Marvel to produce a video game based on The Avengers, we began to wonder whether it would be connected to Insomniac Games’ upcoming Spider-Man PS4 game. Well, we posed the question to Insomniac on Twitter."

I'm fine with this honestly.

They are different publishers, while they may make nods to one another series, I'm okay with keeping them seperate. If one turns out to be bad I'd rather not have forced back story shove din either or making them canon with one another.

I do hope though that this doesn't close the door on PS Spiderman game when it comes to having characters from other Marvel comics.

I hope Marvel allows Sony (since these are the games, not films) to include people like Daredevil, the Punisher, Kingpin and the like...maybe even Captain America and Iron Man

Highly doubt it. Pretty sure only reason why Sony got Spiderman is because of his inclusion in the MCU

Exactly, I don't want a 6 levels/missions Avengers game, that Square Enix will undoubtly screw up, ruining my critically acclaimed, incredible looking, Insomniac Spiderman game. They somehow managed to kill the Hitman series for me.

I like this! It gives them much more freedom! And why not, in the last decade we have already had 2 different Spideys and a 3rd on the way! And like 214 different Batmans! Rocksteady's Batman was original to their IP. Otherwise he wouldn't have been tethered to the Batmibile lol!

Guess that answers my question from earlier. I don't think it's too absurd to think it could happen though. I read recently that marvel wants more creative control in their properties cause they are tired of crap games. Especially after the great reception the Arkham series got. Marvel found great success with their shared movie universe and could see them wanting to do the same with a video game universe. Unlike movies one studio can't pump out 3-5 games a year so it have to be split between different ones. Money talks and marvel has a lot of pull these days so if they wanted it to happen I'm sure deals could be made. All that said I'm fine with a non shared universe. my video game OCD would force me to play thru all the games even if one was crap just so I can complete the entire story.

Spiderman will be PS exclusive, as will all future Spidey games for the foreseeable future. I very much doubt any of Square's Marvel games will though.

Maybe it's me but I don't find the answer that they give to mean it's not. It never specifically says it's not just doesn't all new Spider-Man game that's it.
