Microsoft defends relevance of Rare to Xbox business

GI.Biz Writes:

"Microsoft's Phil Spencer has told that Rare is a studio central to the vision and future of the Xbox 360 business."

"The executive's statement comes in response to former Xbox boss Peter Moore's comments to The Guardian where he said the studio's skillsets "were from a different time and a different place and were not applicable in today's market."

"Rare is a great studio that continuously delivers high-quality, award-winning titles for the Xbox platform and will continue to do so in the future," stated the newly appointed head of Microsoft Game Studios."

all we can do is see how the new Banjo and Kazooie does. No sense in predicting anything untill it's in the bag.

Rare scored with Viva, Kameo, Jetpack and will hopefully continue to do so.

I think they just need some time to show that they've bedded in and have plenty of talent. To be honest i find peter's comment foolish considering Rare have given the 360 something the competitors don't seem to have - a family friendly gardening sim with enough for the hardcore to dig into.

Who else has that?

Plus Kameo was a great Launch title, really showed off the power of this generation and that was all wrapped around some great platforming with good gameplay hooks.

Look forward to seeing what else they do.

Rares got the kiddie games on lock!

killax35633686d ago

LMAO.... kiddie games on the Xbox 360? The Xbox 360 is a machine for the hardcore gamer not for kids. Even with the price drop, the Xbox 360 is still going to be a machine for the hardcore.

That's like saying company XYZ has the first-person shooter market on the Wii on lock down.

Have you played Kameo? That's an effin kiddie game. I couldn't get into it personally, but it looked nice.

When Nintendo and Rare were together,it was always gaming gold that came down the hatch

Yeah nintendo was a great running mate and hopefully with time they will do for 360 what they did for them. I've enjoyed the last few rare games and really want to see if they can truly pull it back together and make some AAA titles.
