5 Reasons Why It’s Crazy To Count Out Console VR So Soon

ThisGenGaming says "VR for consoles is a new concept that will take time to refine and master. The PSVR is suffering from lack of games and other features. The increasing amount of VR Support, addition of YouTube 360 videos, the upcoming release of the Xbox VR, and current VR games in development, are the five reasons why it is crazy to count out console VR so soon."

#6 Gamestop has them in stock, right now. Just ordered mine! Only 3 left at Amazon 1/23/2017 9:42 EST. Amazon's are not the standalone headset, but a bundle (not from scalpers.)

Just posted elsewhere but my opinion remains the same. As far as Sony giving up on the system, or any other VR platform holders giving up, I think it's way too early to make a call on that. In Sony's situation they are obviously supply constrained and very early in the life cycle of the product.

I personally think VR is amazing and hope they continue to put more weight and marketing dollars behind the product. But more important than anything else is Sony and big third parties seeing the financial viability of enhancing or re-making their games in VR. If Sony really wants to get behind the platform we will see VR versions of their big games (both old and new) because while I enjoy the smaller games, I really feel the VR platform needs big AAA to really gain traction. It would go a long way to winning over customers as well as satisfying existing ones.

For reference I have both PSVR and VIVE, and my experience with Dolphin emulator on Vive has proven to me that many older game experiences translate into amazing VR experiences with minimal changes/compromises needed. For example playing Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, RE 4, Mario Sunshine etc, is incredible in VR. They all work fantastically and are significantly enhanced in VR! As a proof of concept these games show it can be done, the games hold up very well, and Sony should make the Playstation equivalent of this happen for their catalog of titles (or those that work well).

On a side note I will be disappointed if we don't see a RE 7 PSVR Bundle! It's exactly what PSVR needs. Must have, full length high production VR games which redefine the genre in VR but still hold up as regular experiences. Sony, and VR platform in general, need more games like this to drive sales and validate the purchase to buyers.

I love my PSVR.

But it's 'this website' . Will never ever click on them for as long as I live.

It's obvious to me PSVR is not doomed, but there are some trolls that want it so be for some reason. In fact, they want VR in general to fail and I'm not exactly sure why.

I like to dim the living room when using VR; it looks really cool when the blue LEDs lit up from all around the headset!

It's not crazy. It's idiotic.

If they make another psvr it will definitely be everything this one hints at. But only if this one starts making the games that will make people want it.
