Do it! I think you're on the right path, combat in Skyrim can't hold up to the souls series but a narrative developed through objects, subtle environmental cues, and most importantly clever level design could be great! Maybe some armor and weapons reminiscent of a souls game, or some kind of loot drop penalty each death to bring home the vibe.
You could get the feel of DS, but the dated, clunky combat would hold ya back.
