The reason is because GTA VI Online 2

justinw2655d ago

rockstar is the new ubisoft. they will be prostituting gta online and sucking it dry. u wont see story dlc because it wont make them much profit. what u will see is a standalone title based on the same map at full retail price. As for dlc all u will get is watered down bullshit one modder could of made over a weekend.

yeahokwhatever2654d ago

or maybe they have an offline team and an online team? online team keeps the online content fresh, offline team works on actual sequels? you know, maybe?

joab7772655d ago

It will be around for quite awhile and who knows, I remember hearing that they wanted to make many cities existing together in the same world!

What if they just connect it with their next online city? Why not? There's tons of options before it goes away!

detroitmademe2655d ago

Yea I remember hearing that around launch as well. New cities would be cool. It seems they cut alot of stuff like heists and the CEO dlc only to add it in later. Cop dlc is also on the list but has yet to be added.

smolinsk2655d ago

Why anyone still play this gta online is beyond me, wasn't fun from the start and never has been, and money milking Rockstar is doing here is unbelievable, I for one is loosing respect for the company.

detroitmademe2655d ago

@smolinsk I'm sorry you didn't have much fun. I'm having a blast and I've been playing since day 1. that's like 3 years ago! Gta online and battlefield 1 are the only games I'm playing these days with gta online getting the bulk of my time. I play because I can be adventurous, use a plethora of different vehicles and play a bunch of different ways ranging from golf or racing to heists or motorcycle club activities. No game has been able to give me all of what GTA online does yet. And as far as rockstar money milking, the only thing I've had to pay for is the initial purchase of the game so I'm not sure what your getting at.

Well said sir, we'll said.

Tru_Blu2655d ago

Nothing in the game costs such an outrages amount of money that you can't earn it by just playing the game. They are pushing the shark cards pretty hard but they are by no means necessary to have fun and buy top end stuff.

JackBNimble2654d ago

Smolinsk
Many would disagree with you, free Dlc for everyone and only the impatient people who are unwilling to put the time and effort in are the ones buying shark cards.
And buy the way buying shark cards don't give any advantage to any player.
The fact that the servers are always full over 3 years after release should also say something about the game. Obviously games are subjective and people's tastes are different but the masses would suggest that your opinion is in the minority.

Rockstar has found a very successful formula there is no denying that.

Thar she blows! That be a whale!! Let's talk to them mateys!

phoenixwing30d ago

@disagrees
Didn't have a good rebuttal did you? We all know the select players are whales who waste thousands or hundreds of thousands on the games currency. You expect them to make the same kinds of demands as everyone else? Keep dreaming.

Inverno30d ago

Well that and most likely streamers who have helped harpoon all those whales lolz.

Why is this news? Is this supposed to be some sort of heads up to those involved?

Kombatologist37d ago

Why shouldn't this be news? If you play the game at all, you'd know this has been a problem for a while. Tell me, how is it fair for legit low-level players to be grieved by players using modded accounts with disposable amounts of cash? It's about time Rockstar did something about these losers.

BISHOP-BRASIL37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Not that I really played it in forever, but the way I used to roll on online once I realize I had no interest in actually doing heists and micromanaging property and shit, the moment someone decided to pick a fight I'd just leave towards north, jump the fence of the army base, steal a jet and grief away... Pro tip: they can't really make you pay for other players cars when you have not one single penny to your name.

EDIT: Got carried away... Anyway, my point was, you can grief without money, this is not stopping it.

Kombatologist36d ago

@BISHOP-BRASIL

I get what you're trying to say, but it's a false equivalence. Anyone could jump the fence and grab a jet back in the day. The dynamic changed once R* started introducing militarized vehicles, such as flying motorcycles with homing rockets, a stealth helicopter, and most recently, a stealth jet. There's so many militarized vehicles now, you really have to keep up with the latest and greatest in order to defend yourself from that shit, which is really expensive to do. Sure, you could make the argument that Shark Cards give players the same advantage as a modded account. The thing is, they don't. Not even close. A modded account can have ANY amount of money, as well as ANY weapon and/or vehicle, even ones that aren't available in the game yet (as long as they're in the datafiles). Some of them even have glitched characters with invisible limbs/weapons. This is an unfair advantage to anyone who plays legitimately and nobody should have to risk getting their accounts permanently banned from stooping to the same level just to compete. Furthermore, making money is really easy to do now. Which begs the question: Why buy a modded account in the first place? I think the answer is obvious.

So this is news because a Twitter guy says so :)
