Rime Hands-On: Answering the Burning Questions – IGN First

IGN: We've played Rime and can finally reveal the answer to the question, "What is Rime?"

gangsta_red3090d ago

"Tequila Works tells us that Rime was originally conceived as an action-RPG adventure with survival and crafting elements called Echoes of the Siren. However what we’ll receive in May 2017 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC will be very different."

Maybe that is part of the reason this dev grabbed the game back from Sony. Maybe Sony was expecting something else than what Tequila wanted to change it to.

Sony really only monitors quality and extreme themes(you gotta push pretty far to get them to suggest change though), other than that they are pretty much hands off when it comes to the product. It's more likely due to the issues and staff reduction reported earlier this year, put it on more platforms, make more money.

"Sony was expecting something else than what Tequila wanted to change it to" LOL you fanboys are funny, the fact that it was called "Rime" when it was first announced as ps4 exclusive, but i guess you didnt know back then because you didnt care about it or its simply just another indie game xD.

You should actually try reading the quote in my comment. Then maybe, just maybe you'll see what I meant.

ironically the game seems to have lost a lot of interest now that its no longer an exclusive. such a sad state of affairs of how some people on the forums hype games much more if they are exclusive.

More like the delays, never seeing anything beyond the first video which turned out to be all pre-rendered, and lack of updates till Sony let them buy the ip back. It had hype when people thought that video was all in game footage and it would be out soon after. Then nothing was heard about for a while.

more like because of the delay, we waited 3 years without any release date, i was hyped and i expect to play this game before TLG, but after TLG 2015 announcement i was excited for that instead, now its just one of many games i'll eventually buy.

freshslicepizza3089d ago

and yet the hype never died for the last guardian and that was delayed a lot longer

IanTH3088d ago

@Moldybread - Well, on the one hand, I'd say the hype for TLG game did die *some*, but obviously not to the same degree as Rime. But on the other, TLG has a developer with a pedigree of releasing games after protracted development that turn out to be some of the generations best experiences. Rime has a solid developer no doubt, but the only project Tequila Works has released to this point is Deadlight back in 2012. Not to mention Tequila Works sounded as though they suffered employee/infrastructure issues while TLG had their general protracted development mixed with switching platform architecture.

So comparing a AAA developer with AAA funding and a history of interesting/well-reviewed games VS a very fine indie studio with only one game under their belt, and I think it stands to reason why their respective hype levels were different, exclusive or not. Obviously every exclusive game will get a bit more hype than multiplatform on average, but I think that's only a fraction of the difference here.

"and yet the hype never died for the last guardian and that was delayed a lot longer"

100!

Seems some can wait almost 6 or 7 years but three is an eternity.

Can't wait for this game. The trailer looked great.

5 Bad Switch Ports That Should Not Have Happened

Greysun writes:

The Nintendo Switch gets bombarded with many, many ports. But most of them actually run pretty well, with only a couple that we would call bad Switch ports.

While I agree with the majority on this list Bloodstained is far from a bad port. Sure it doesn't run as fast as the other more powerful machines and has some sacrifices made to the graphics to keep the game running smooth. But some of the errors that are being mentioned can be patched and addressed. The game is still fun to play, it's not like it's broken or anything.

King_Noctis2182d ago

Ark should have never been released the way it is on the Switch. The game is so so bad.

It's purely down to the incompetence of the Devs. Just go and look at how more demanding games have successfully been ported to Switch and then you have proof that these are just poorly done.
