Microtransactions are actually saving the video game industry

You think microtransactions are the devil, that they’re destroying the entire video game industry? Cameron thinks otherwise.

"Let’s be blunt, I’m a busy working adult who is also a full-time student; odds are whoever is reading this falls into the ‘busy adult’ category of their own mix, likely even busier than myself. We do not have the free time like we used to. We do not have time to unlock every gun, skin, and sight in Call of Duty. We do not have time to do every single quest line in Fallout 3; we just simply do not have time to play as much of any given game as we may like. For many a busy adult, microtransactions actually help those with a hectic life."

Great, another person who gives the excuse that they don't have time so pay money to unlock things. Can we stop with this crap? I have seen many articles defending microtransactions lately. If you can't see that this is hurting the game industry then you might as well stop playing games altogether.

Also, there was an alternative to this $hitty microtransaction practice back then that was free. Its called Cheat Codes.

Yea, it's a pretty crappy practice that microsoft does but is not the only one guilty of this shitty unjustifiable practice. I like them though because all there games are coming over to PC and because of scropio im sure their exclusive will look amazing on pc and scropio .

It's not really an excuse as much as it is reality. As someone who has been playing video games since the SNES, I personally want to take in as many games as possible. Considering micro transactions tend to be out of the way and as well as nonmandatory to finish the game or see everything, it's an alternative rather than a cut off. I'm sorry you see this as harmful, and I'm also sorry if my article has offended you in any way.

Stay awesome

cocaine is a hell of a drug...

CJ64Bit3084d ago

I've done a lot in my short time alive but cocaine is not on my list!

I don't agree with microtransactions but its either this, or $100 games. DLC as well but not all DLC is a cash grab.

CJ64Bit3084d ago

See the beauty comes in when games offer free dlc because of their inclusion of micro transactions. You still get all the extra content and you never need to spend a dime if you don't want to!

Milk...get your milk...and so much more. Really when you release the same games in three editions over 15 years it's amazing how much money, and the amount of sales you earn. It's amazing how no one can compete.

Mr_cheese30d ago

To be fair, no many companies could release the same game over and over. They've earned that whether we agree or not

DarXyde30d ago

I mean Resident Evil 4 has had longer legs and still hasn't done anything like this.

Profchaos30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

GTA v isn't the only game that's released three consoles generations running but nothing has sold those numbers including GTA San Andreas which is now 4 console generations deep.

anast30d ago

Looks like a 2040 release for GTA6

gold_drake30d ago

thats insane right?
absolutely insane

No surprising considering that it’s been on every major platform and store.

I decided to look up the longest and most sold games list. To my surprise Tetris has takes the top spot.

I mean, considering the amount of time between the two. It better be a massive upgrade. Especially with the amount of money Rockstar raked in from GTA Online.

Most of scenes are pre rendered

andy8537d ago

Literally none are. If you know anything about rockstar they don't do that. Confirmed by themselves that this is all in-game

MDTunkown37d ago

Is that why first gta5 trailer looked better than the final product? Or is that why same happened with rdr2 ?
Rockstar told 50% are cutscenes and rockstars always used better models during cutscenes than in game.
You legit seems to know rockstar very well.

andy8537d ago (Edited 37d ago )

It didn't though? And neither did RDR2. In fact it was actually the opposite. What's with the hate boner? If you don't like it just avoid the topic

InUrFoxHole36d ago

Why don't either of you provide proof. This is just a he said, she said argument at this point

generic-user-name37d ago

You're either lying or just don't know what pre rendered means. Pre rendered means that if you change the character's appearance (clothes, accessories etc) they wouldn't show up in the cutscenes because they were already made and aren't being rendered in real time. This is something that doesn't happen in Rockstar games.

"Is that why first gta5 trailer looked better than the final product? Or is that why same happened with rdr2 ?"

In fact some of the scenes in RDR2 looked better in the retail version than at launched.

The OP is taking the shot-gun approach: say a bunch of random tripe and see if something sticks.

Damn! GTAV graphics are still awesome! But, I am so excited to play GTA6!!!
