Their biggest issue imho is communication. With nothing said about Destiny 2 and nothing about content coming before it's release, players are again feeling the familiar anxiety that comes. Is it worth even playing anymore in nothing will carry over? Are raids gonna be updated for the spring or held for the sequel? Is it even releasing in 2017 and if not, is there any more content coming at all?

At times Bungie has been a bit better at communicating, but then at times, they completely disappear. The community is strong and loyal. Yes, they are fickle but can handle whatever news is coming. Here's a crazy idea, how about including fans in the development of Destiny 2?

Or at least feed back like they did with rise of iron and TTK.

Kribwalker3098d ago

I've put it down now finally after the recent rumours that your characters won't carry over. After being told they would, finding out everything you do in the game now is useless has kinda killed it for me.

Really they just make destiny 2 a huge expansion with updated graphics etc like world of Warcraft. Now all the content will be gone, and we still liked to do the vault of glass and crota raids, amongst others

jdiggitty3098d ago

I suspect the issue of not being able to carry over characters has to do with them needing to build a new engine. What they have now is rumored to be a nightmare to design for and won't scale up to much more content. They can't just make destiny 2 a huge expansion from what we have. The vault is limited to the space we have now because the engine will literally not display any more information of screen. They just cannot move forward on an engine that is built to work on PS3 and 360. My thoughts anyway.

Kribwalker3098d ago

While I agree that he engine can't do more, my thought was to port existing things into the new engine and expand on it, much like world of warcraft where the recently updated the entire game with their new engine so everything carried forward

JasonBloodbourne3098d ago

I honestly don't believe that destiny 2 will be released this year, usually most companies would of started showing artwork and early footage by now and bungie haven't said anything about it to my knowledge.

Who would have thought that Bungie leaving Microsoft because they got sick of Halo might have bit them in the ass

This games needs a return to its orginal vision. Id love to see a third person option for the game, I really dont care about PVP , so Id like to see less focus on that and more story content actually in game and less girmore.

Destiny 2 has a chance to get it right from the jump here is hoping.

Tapani3098d ago

I agree! More Single Player content and tweaked multiplayer from Destiny 1 with new places to go and more of everything. Maybe with Destiny 2 Bungie can finally complete their vision. New IPs are tricky...

Tussin1873098d ago

I'm sure the second will be better. I understand people's disappointment but this is also a new IP and they went from developing for one system to 4 if we include last gen.

I turn on my PS4, go to live for Playstation and Destiny is always in the top 3 streams. Most of the time at number 2 after GTA. It's not that dead. I have a feeling that D2 is going to be like AC1 and AC2 with part two being much better. We can even throw UC1 and 2 into mix as another example.

Bungie is a top tier developer and I expect them to go all out now that they focus more on the game itself without putting so much effort in creating the engine also. That's usually how it goes.

Tetsujin3098d ago

I stopped playing when The Dark Below first released because I already saw where the game was going, and I was right. I liked the Beta, but the full game was lacking. I know a lot of die hards will argue "it's a good game," well it is depending on what kind of player you are.

Bungie lost a customer with how short the game is, the lies, and how they let Activision call the shots at the end of the day.

kayoss3098d ago (Edited 3098d ago )

Its a good game but i agree with you. I just feel like all the DLC they released are cut content that should have been in the vanilla destiny and the newer DLC's and updates are reskinned of current content. This game have the potential to be great, but bungie decided to flush it down the toilet.

With that said, im still playing it because in my opinion the mechanics and control of this game is second to none in regards to a shooter.

ChozenWoan3098d ago

What killed it for me was when I had to start playing on my PS4. Next boot up the game on my PS3 to the point of account activation, then quickly close the game on my PS3. All this just to unlock the DLC on my PS4.

Tumaras3098d ago

Destiny was a very good game, but unfortunately never quite reached the great potential it had. With the expansions, either they couldn't make up their mind or just for marketing reasons, they do 4 expansions...1 very short one, then a slightly longer one, and both left many customers feeling ripped off for what little content they got. Then TTK which was finally a decent sized expansion, followed by Rise of Iron which went back to 2 hours of content for $30 that alienated customers.

Also, Bungie was stubborn as could be and refused to listen to customers regarding in-game mm for end-game content. So unless you knew 4-5 friends who also played Destiny, at the same time, on the same platform, with the same expansions, you had to go external to the game to grovel, beg, and plead your case to hope for a chance to go along on a raid. Everyone hated that and Bungie never did resolve it.

The game itself as far as the graphics, the pvp, the combat, at times the story, etc. were all very good. It's just sad that if not for a few flaws it could have been amazing.

"With the expansions, either they couldn't make up their mind or just for marketing reasons, they do 4 expansions..."

I believe the rumored reworking of the story is to blame. We can see in previews and other things that the Dreadnaught, Reef social space and even cutscenes didn't make it into the launch and most were added as DLC later on. Odds are they planned on finishing all that stuff and adding it into the base game, but then they had something new to do and ultimately repurposed them as DLC so they could meet schedule. Taken King they had more time to work on and it quickly became a better expansion, with Rise of Iron being rushed because they didn't expect to fail to meet the Destiny 2 deadline.

"Also, Bungie was stubborn as could be and refused to listen to customers regarding in-game mm for end-game content."

I actually like this choice. I mean, I get the option would be great because it doesn't take away from my ability to find people, but matchmade raids would likely go poorly. Even with LFG people at max light and a mic they sometimes go poorly, so this would likely go unused anyway.

TheRealHeisenberg3098d ago

They could have made it optional. I don't feel that was much to ask. I could go on my own rant about why I stopped playing but it did not matter to Bungie and Activision before then and it won't matter now. They lost a very loyal customer. End of story.

Destiny already has the pretty hyper 'raid' fixation and then they added legendary raid dungeons. Hyperfixating in PvEvP wouldn't work as well because you need a lot more than 2% of the userbase to keep that going unlike raids that are propped up by streamers who make running them their whole job. Most players don't play all the raids let alone run them over and over. And most who play PvP don't want structured PvE elements.
