Red Dead Redemption 2 Fans Concerned Over Multiple Protagonists

With rumors swirling around Rockstar possibly following the GTA V model and including 3 protagonists in Red Dead Redemption 2, RDR2 considers whether the community would actually like that change from previous Red Dead titles.

I am an RDR fan. I will be an RDR2 fan when it comes out. Rockstar has yet to disappoint. Why would they now?

And I am not, in the least, concerned about multiple protagonists. The Magnificent Seven (original) and Seven Samurai are among my top 10 favorite movies of all time. Why would multiple protagonists bother anyone?

And, didn't Rockstar already do a game with multiple protagonists. I seem to remember some title that came out not to long ago: GTA V. Yeah, I think that one did pretty well.

I don't like the idea of multiple protagonists. I would've much preferred GTAV having just one. It makes the game shorter and less engrossing having multiple characters to follow. Yes, it may add more content, but it seems like just filler when jumping back and forth. I'd rather just follow one and go through the highs and lows of one person

Disagree 100% . RDR is stronger then GTA storywise and I think RDR2 would make better use of multiple protagonists then GTAV.

The only reason it's "long" is because of the 3 main characters. There could be 10 people and make it over 100 hours doesn't mean I'd like it

I hope they do have multiple protagonists. I liked how they changed things up in GTAV. I remember when I first played GTAV story it was so refreshing. Kept things from getting stale.

I don't think anyone can honestly say they didn't like it when the camera would go up into the sky and then suddenly it went to Trevor in his underwear riding a scooter into oncoming traffic on the highway. The whole 'swapping' thing was just fun. I can't wait to see what they'll do in a Wild-Western setting. It just makes for funnier and more exciting moments. Plus, they all come together near the end anyway.

Just let things transpire. Naughty Dogs Neil Druckman said it best: "Just trust us that we're doing right by you". Rockstar have consistently wowed their fanbase and have never let you down, just let them do what they need to. They created the franchise, they have that report with you. They'll do it justice so just sit back, relax, and them do their jobs. ITLL BE FINE.

There were 2 protagonists in the first RDR. I'm sure it will work, especially as the characters will hopefully be more serious than in gta. The location of the characters could also add diversity to the game.

Kinda. You only played the Kid at the very end. And everyone I know HATED the character swap to the kid so your point isn't a good one.

I didn't hate the character swap. It was really just to show that John Marston got avenged. You don't really play as his son long enough to like or hate him, and it at least left the story in a somewhat better place than just killing off the main character after working so hard to redeem himself.

The whole game was reall John Marston. In fact you didn't start playing as his son until after the end credits. It was more like a fan service to show that John was avenged. It was literally like one mission you played as his son.

Thats not really the same thing as having multiple protagonists spread out relatively equally through the whole story.

You could do unfinished side missions as the son and the characters would mention John Marsten when playing as Jack

It was a video game version of an Epilogue. I enjoyed the vengeance factor but, I agree, that's not the same as 2 protagonists.

I prefer one playable character, makes it easer to put yourself into his/her mindset when roleplaying.

It's rockstar it's the one development company you don't need to worry about. Gta v proved multiple Characters work for a deep story.

The author is the only person that is concerned.

Rockstar always borrow things from previous games studio wide gta 4 took bully's wanted line of sight system, max payne 3 borrowed red deads target system. Gta v borrowed driving mechanics from midnight club la the list goes on
