‘Now Your Playing With Power’ proclaimed the 1986 NES marketing campaign that is just so wonderfully a product of those 80’s days. Fast forward 30 years and there’s a different cry that seems to resonate from Nintendo’s camp. It’s all about the games now, and that previously lauded power is secondary…

"Locomoto is an incredibly cute and cosy adventure sim involving a train. Published by THQ Nordic and released on the Nintendo, I know, like me, you were hoping for a Nintendo Switch 2 version. But don’t worry, if you do own a shiny new Nintendo Switch 2, the game runs perfectly fine on there." Stu @ Thumb Culture
I don't think they misspelled "you're" in the original slogan.
Well considering that they survived this long, I don't think Nintendo is going anywhere anytime soon especially with the theme parks opening in the future. That is sure to rake in alot of money. As far as the games though, they may have survived but I suspect their audience is slowly getting smaller.
Nintendo lost me after n64, while their core franchises are no doubt good games and well created. Their archaic "we do whatever we want cuz were Nintendo" mindset just doesn't flow in today's market. Plus I think Reggie Fils-amie isnt a very good exec and feel they need someone more in touch with modern gaming
What people fail to realize is that i used to be a nintendo fanboy... Since the nes... I remember arguing with all my sega fanboy friends and all this sega does what nintendont bullshit. It was up until shortly after the gamecube i had to realize my fav gaming platform was no longer nintendo but playstation. The wii was the beg of the end for myself and many others and thats very evident with the launch of the wiiu and how crappy it did. I bought one for my sister 2 xmas's ago and shortly there after it collected dust. The switch seems to be making the same damn mistakes they made with the wiiu. Theres 3 major hurdles the switch must make to be more successful than the wiiu... And they are no small feats. 1. Be powerful enough as other 8th gen consoles, 2. Get third partys to make games for the switch, and 3. Which might be the hardest hurdle... GET NINTENDO FANS TO INVEST IN 3RD PARTYS. If the returns arent there for third partys, step one and two are pointless!
So the biggest problem in my opinion is getting sales on third partys to show decent returns when if you look to the past (like most logical thinking people do) the platform has done pretty poorly on 3rd party sales since the 64... Another of my fav consoles from ninty.
"The Strength Of Its Games"
Tell that to Starfox, F-Zero and Metroid fans. Nintendo consoles are just becoming machines with Mario games on with the occasional Zelda game thrown in.
