The future of VR is about the detail not the spectacle. How VR needs to concentrate on the little things in order to truly begin to shine.
The original PSVR has a great catalogue of games, but keeping the set-up working well can be a pain.
Thirdverse, the Japan-based VR studio behind Swords of Gargantua, Altair Breaker, and X8, announced that its VR multiplayer JRPG SOUL COVENANT is coming to all major headsets next month. Developed by the core team behind SOUL SACRIFICE (2013), players are thrust into a post-apocalyptic Tokyo in the franchise’s first VR expansion.
In a very recent development, Capcom has announced that the VR mode for the “Resident Evil 4” remake is scheduled to be added on the 8th of December as an update and will support the full main story campaign, offering an unprecedented gaming experience to its users. However, RE Series fans have another reason to rejoice as there is a possibility that RE Series might get a VR Version in the future.
Nice article.
Steel Battalion or Battletech VR game could be awesome if done right, and I'd love to see a Colony Wars VR remake.
The future of VR is about variety...just like normal gaming..but I think there is even greater potential here.
I didn't think about it earlier but social experiences/games like Werewolves Within are a great thing in VR. It's great fun and a totally unique gaming experience. I have high hopes for Star Trek Bridge Crew as well...falls in the same category. Ubisoft always was creative in creating new game concepts and those two titles show where a part of VR's future could lead.
I can't see the details, it's too low-res.
VR will be worthwhile in about 5-10 years. This stuff is nothing more than a tv strapped to your face with motion controls. Heck, you even see those idiotic face masks you can buy to strap your phone on to it for "VR".
Feel bad for people investing in this trash. I'm sure they think it's all great at the moment, but they'll be looking at it sitting in their closet in a year or 2 and regret every penny thrown at it.
2018 when the price of psvr has gone under two hundred and microsoft has launched their own lineup of vr-devices then we will start to see real competition and innovation on consoles and pc.
