Call of Duty’s Playerbase is Down 76% from Last Year on Steam

on PC especially, doesn't COD 4 still have a fairly healthy PC population? Haven't checked in a few years but pretty sure it's been the most played COD game on PC for a long long time.

i used to play it on steam a year ago,the servers were stacked on cod4! But there would be like 40 players on a small map,i die to fast i gave up.

CoD4 is hugely populated on Steam to this day. I play it regularly with a good stable of friends. Tons of populated servers of all gametypes. Most guys I've seen on various servers treated the reveal of MW Remastered with either indifference or outright antipathy, mostly because they don't care about the prettier graphics when there is no custom dedi server support, no mod support, matchmaking-only, and tons of other nerfs from the original CoD4 PC version.

Infinite warfare is played more than the remaster on PC. It's a meme that more people want to play cod 4 remaster tan infinite warfare.

Multiple obvious reasons for this:
- Battlefield 1: Amazing game with healthy sales
- Titanfall 2: Equally amazing game although not that good sales numbers. However this game certainly lured many COD players that were disappointed to IW (similar movement mechanics etc.)
- MW remastered is splitting the fan base for sure - especially on PC.
- Black ops 3: many people are still playing this game and BO3 is generally considered superior multiplayer game compared to IW.
- People are getting tired of annual COD. Especially after some of the weaker entries in the series such as Ghosts people are having doubts and don't blindly buy COD anymore.
- Last but not least: Apparently IW is not one of the better games in the series.
EDIT: And overwatch of course. Thanks kev, how could I forget this one...

So I would say that the player count is as expected.

overwatch is what has changed things this year, even battlefield suffered a little on pc. Titanfall 1 is the reason titanfall 2 didnt sell on pc, gamers still remember.

Titanfall 2 sales are lackluster on all platforms. Even on PS4 (although that's were the biggest numbers are). But the game itself is exceptional! Oh man, I've lost so much of my real-life health-bar for not sleeping enough because of this game. :D (clean office job and 2 years old son don't really leave much free time for games...other than nights of course).

Overwatch is ass. mediocre game outside of the competitive ranking system which I wish more games like battlefield would do

Yeah i got BF1 and TF2 on my PC.

I refuse to buy Infinite warfare, i'll wait for the remaster to be sold separately.
