This is awesome. I love the Yakuza series. I'm so glad they're bringing this to PS4 in the West. So much good news today. I'm really impressed.

georeo2779d ago

So is this one and two remastered?

thatguyhayat2779d ago

Naah this ones the remade version i think.

akiraburn2779d ago

Kiwami is actually a full remake of the first game with every asset re-created using new models and textures. It also includes a massive amount of new content not present in the original game, including some new cutscenes and information about characters, more mini-games, improvements to the combat system, and a tons of other updates all around. Aside from the main story and general world design being pretty closely aligned to the original, it's actually very much like a new game.

Two Yakuza games and Persona 5 in 2017, could next year get any better?

starchild2779d ago

And Nioh, which is my most anticipated game. 2017 is going to be insanely good.

akiraburn2779d ago

This and the Yakuza 6 announcements were absolutely excellent surprises! Like you said, it's hard to get better than two Yakuza titles along with Persona next year. Without question, these additions made next year my most anticipated year for gaming in quite a long time.

And that's not accounting for the other awesome releases. Gravity Rush 2, Ni-Oh, Tales of Berseria, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Danganronpa (both the remaster of 1 and 2, as well as the release of 3), Nier Automata, Berserk, Red Dead Redemption 2, and supposedly even Shenmue 3 which has a rough plan to release in December (though realistically I could see that one changing). And the crazy thing is that almost all of those are all just planned for release in the first quarter of next year. I very much look forward to seeing what else will release next year over Q2 - Q4.

Gravity Rush 2, Horizen: Zero Dawn and so much more.

Nice move, Sega. This is how you get more fans to support the franchise in the future. Great news!

It's so magical to see Sega and Sony make an aggressive move towards localizing a lot of Yakuza games after Yakuza 5 came to western markets in 2015.

Before then Sega was really hesitant to bring any more of the franchise here after Yakuza: Dead Souls bombed. But they're hesitant no more!

starchild2779d ago

Yes, I hope they bring Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan and Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin to PS4 in the West. Those are the ones I want the most. I just love the Feudal Japan setting. But my Japanese isn't good enough to fully enjoy them, which is why I would love them to get localized for English speaking markets and the West in general.

akiraburn2779d ago

I know the feeling bud. I don't know if they'll ever bring those over, which is why I ended up getting an imported copy of Ishin and I'm starting the game by using a guide to follow along. It's not as easy to play through and fully enjoy, but if you happen to have a tablet/PC/laptop you can keep handy while playing it, just use this site ( http://www.khhsubs.com/proj... ) and you'll be able to understand the majority of the game while still having a lot of fun with it. It's definitely worthwhile if you like the setting and concepts.

On a positive note though, this is Sega acting like we've hoped they would for quite a while. Yakuza localizations, bringing back the Valkyria series, lots of superb changes overall. Maybe the Atlus acquisition helped them with localization and development in ways that we're just starting to see here. If that's the case, let's hope that Phantasy Star Online 2 is among the next planned localization jobs, as well as a Shenmue HD collection.

I'm also dying to play Ishin. I don't think it'll get localized this late in the game, so thank you akiraburn for the link.

Games that are better on the second playthrough

Some games require more than one playthrough to fully experience. Here are seven games that are better on the second playthrough.

Red Dead 2 ? Who would ever want to play that slow ass bloated overly long game twice ! Not to mention going through those awfully designed main missions.

Storm23448d ago

Agreed. I couldn't even finish it the first time.

DankSinatra448d ago

I mean, I did. I enjoyed every bit of the 3 times I played through it. Just because you didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean others won’t. Not every game is for everyone.

Demetrius448d ago

Ikr I thoroughly enjoyed red dead 2 one of the best open world games

Levii_92448d ago

But the first game is one of my favourite games ever.. i have no idea what happend with the second game but Rockstar needs to change it’s game design, especially how those main missions are designed. It’s severly outdated. Oh and actually make the gameplay enjoyable and not so slow and clunky.

Believe me, I recently replayed the first one and it’s worse in both structure and game design. Don’t let nostalgia misplace that. RDR 2 is definitely an improvement but it’s rockstar in general that needs to open up their handholding on missions.

I got almost 700 hrs in that game. so, here is at least one person.

Some games have good incentives for multiple playthroughs but you can never beat experiencing it for the first time. Caelid for the first time? Mindblowing. Second time around it's just Caelid again.

Bioshock, Skyrim, and Darkest Dungeon for me

gold_drake448d ago

definitely the Soul games and Bloodborne haha.
