It´s said that Blizzard has been working on an Overwatch movie for quite sometime now. So here´s my (Robin Ek, TGG) thoughts on a potential "Overwatch" movie and TV-series.
Thomas Mahler: "Since it's quite bananas that a lot of players still do not understand the economy behind game development, I thought it'd be best to just break down a real example of a really successful first-time developer who managed to make a deal with a publisher. "
I wouldnt call a game that costs 10 million to make and had over 30 people from different companies working on it an indie game.
Seriously, no.
I don't get it..
He starts with 10M cost for the game excluding marketing and continues to detract "other"costs...
Why are the costs of storefront, engine etc not included in the 10M?
Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks has revealed a brand new logo/website, and that it is currently working on an unannounced action game.
IO Interactive is doing their own showcase this Friday and have revealed what is in store.
I´m not a huge fan of the game itself, but I could see myself watch a movie or a TV-series based on Overwatch. As I like the short movies on Youtube.
I wonder whether Blizzard will turn it into a kidde movie or not though...Because then it´s very unlikely that we´re going to see any violent deaths and such.
"I like Q3 and UT04 the most ;)"
The mod scene has kept UT04 alive for all these years, and the game is still fun as hell to play.
Why though? I love Overwatch but the game isn't even remotely story based, the shorts were cool but if they are going to do a movie/tv series of one of their IPs, why not expand on one of their universes that is more story based? It'd be like valve choosing to do a movie on CS instead of Half Life lol.
I saw this coming from the very first trailer. Iam sure Disney and Pixar are foaming at the mouth.
