with ESO you still need a ps+ sub to play it

Tetsujin3074d ago

I've been told by people who do not have Plus can still actively play ESO with no problems. I've read online people saying they can't play without plus. It's hard to say since I've had plus all the time (waited until the sales came around to purchase it) so I can't test the theory at the moment.

No you don't lol it's free with outnps plus it even says in the box when I bought my copy

Kallisti3074d ago

I heard it was playable without PS+ when you had to pay a subscription to play it but now that you don't need a subscription for it PS+ is needed. Don't know if that's true though, I've never played it myself.

I heard you don't need ESO Plus but need PS+ but the last time I bought the base game it told me I needed PS+ but I don't know anymore tbh, if it's free to play without a PS+ sub then good but I don't have the game to confirm if it's true or not

How is Warframe/War-Thunder?

Tetsujin3074d ago

Warframe is fun if you have the right people to play with. Personally I got bored with it because it's the same grind fest with minimal rewards. I'm also on the fence about uninstalling the game if they push a specific reward past day 400 (just in case I don't want to spoil it). I do log on for my daily, and to help others out, but to play 8+ hours a day like I used to, no. For a free to play game though it does have a lot of content for someone who's just starting - for a veteran like me I went to greener pastures.

I can't speak for War-Thunder since I never played it.

Warframe is a fun game. Ton of content, and you can unlock gear / warframes without really needing to use the cash shop.
War Thunder, fun but a huge time sink to unlock vehicles.

iceman063074d ago

If you haven't played Warframe, you have about 6 mos. to a years worth of content. No lie. The game is that vast. Plus, content updates happen about every 3 mos. or so. On the surface, it's a simple game. But, there is a complexity to it. Creating "builds" for guns, weapons, and frames for situational content helps keep the game fresh. They've improved every aspect of the game since launch and continue to add and tweak the experience. Plus, with patience, you honestly don't need to spend your own money. In-game currency can be earned through trading. I've been playing since the beginning and, though I take breaks, I always come back to the game. I did a review for it on N4G. But, that was before a crap ton of changes. It still explains the basics if you wanna look it up.

War thunder is a beautiful aircraft/tank battle simulator. You have an easier arcade mode too. Personnaly i love it.

Neverwinter is free to play and doesn't need a sub. And the best game on this list.

rdgneoz33074d ago

And the most expensive game pretty much as well. Epic / purple mounts that take a long time to farm, or $30ish from the cash shop (account wide luckily), top end minions/helpers/companions are like $20 (not account wide), and the Dragonborn race is like $75... At least the other games are reasonable with their cash shops...

Overall, a fun game, but overpriced cash shop.

To put it simply... two steps forward, one step back.

Abriael8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

That's not how that works.

Gaming revenue is already a balance of Content and Services +/- Hardware. So it's simply one step forward. Microsoft's gaming business is growing, and has been growing pretty much forever.

darthv728h ago

...two steps forward and one step back still amounts to one step forward, does it not?

Abriael8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

@darthv72: But in this case, it's more one step forward that would be pretty large, but is held back by some weight, so it's instead a bit smaller, but it's still a sizable step forward, since hardware weighs a lot less than content and services. Your comparison would work if C&S and Hardware were equivalent.

Christopher4h ago

Really depends on your goal. I was told by Microsoft that they were still pushing hardware, so I don't know what to believe.

TheColbertinator8h ago

Another win for Microsoft. The haters can use the dog door to leave.

Hardware revenue will probably sit somewhere between 800M - 1B for the quarter.

And content & services make up around 75 - 80% of total gaming revenue. Total gaming revenue is up 5%.

While positive numbers are positive, I don't find +5% year-on-year in total revenue a great, not even a good result considering what they've been throwing into the pot since their last Q3.

I don't think they are happy with only a +5% payoff since and compared to last year's Q3, which was abysmal, despite these numbers are indicating "Positive!" at 1st glance.

Especially since in terms of revenue, hardware doesn't contribute a lot to overall revenue anymore ("only" -6% down, because there's no hardware really being sold anymore).

Well what do you know. When you release good games, good consecutive 1st party you output you actually make money.

Minus hardware of course.

I'll give credit where it's due. MS is starting to capture that old 360 energy when it comes to games and releases. It took them 14 years of having a clue but they seem to be doing it now. All will be lost if they step on rakes like they're known to do. Who knows how long it'll last.

In addition to the roughly 100 job cuts IGN reported earlier today at Respawn Entertainment, EA has made wider cuts across its organization today, impacting around 300 individuals total including those already reported at Respawn.

Absolutely insane. Man I'm hope they land on their feet EA needs to get the shit together badly....

This is why this industry has slow releases and none compelling games.
