I'd love a fully fledge console pokemon RPG. The DS games are great but I definitely wouldn't say no to a console version that plays like a current gen JRPG. T'would be sweet!

dohji3127d ago

The only reason they won't make a fully fledged console Pokemon game is because it would kill the sales of whatever handheld Nintendo had out at the time.

ninsigma3127d ago

More than likely Yeah that's the case. They should make a complete separate game that has no ties to whatever the latest DS version is and release in between the sun/moon and whatever comes next. That would avoid ruing the DS game sales. Have you tried sun or moon yet?? Likely won't get to it until next year myself.

the Switch is the handheld

Legit Pokémon MMO for console? Sure everything else i don't really care about personally.

I played the demo lol. The game seems pretty good, but TBH I'm not diggin most of the new Pokemon or Alola forms. I can wait to play with Dugtrio's new weave for a couple more months.

I would say you got to play the games to get the real joy from them I played the hehe demo and kinda ruined my hype but then playing the full release brought all the hype back

The full game is better than the demo, but I'm not the biggest fan the games overall.

Like all main pokemon games they're good, but they're way too easy, they hold your hand the entire time, there aren't many new pokemon, way too many cutscene tutorials (story cutscenes would be fine, but the tutorials are just too much), the slowest generation of Pokemon, and it's just such a big departure from the other games that it feels more like the GameCube Pokemon games than the traditional handheld games (worst of all no new megas discovered).

That's the bad

The good is there are several changes that are also drastically better when it comes to in-game and battling. HM's are finally gone, there's more diversity as far as things to do such as riding pokemon, taking picture (Pokemon Snap on Switch???), etc... Z-Moves are actually interesting and battle changing especially support Z-moves. While the pokemon are all super slow and the majority aren't great for single battles, they are for the most part perfect for stall, trick room, and VGC teams / battles giving much needed diversity to those playstyles. The artstyle is improving more with each game. They try to balance the game, although some Pokemon are broken (not Mega Rayquaza broken, but broken nonetheless Zygrade 100% for example, and some Ultra Beast).

Yes and I can't believe it hasn't been done yet. Warhawk is another franchise i can't believe hasn't been touched this gen. Both are unique in their own way and I think they'd prosper if done right.

That and beyond Good and Evil 2 are the only things making me interesting Nintendo switch

Zelda and Pikmin look good too. I love Pikmin. Gosh Pikmin 3 was so amazing.

I don't even like Pokémon but would play it if it were a mmo. Just seems like the kind of game tha999t would thrive in that setting

one was being made a while ago I'm not sure what happened to it because that was a heap of years ago when I heard about it.

BlackOni3127d ago

Yes. I'm just surprised Nintendo doesn't have a way of playing your 3ds games on your tv, regardless of how bad they'll look. I'm just not a fan of looking down to play when I can sit in a comfy position (or stand) near a large screen, not holding a device to my head.

wonderfulmonkeyman3126d ago (Edited 3126d ago )

Well, for the Wii U, it was probably an issue of architectural differences rather than power.
I suspect that with the Switch, it's because you can't use the (rumored) touch screen of the tablet at the same time as the dock, meaning games like M&L Bowser's Inside Story wouldn't translate well due to the console lacking two screens, which would mean no dock play, which would invalidate half the advantage of a hybrid home console.

I imagine they COULD just come out with an accessory that lets your 3DS just transmit its top screen's signal to the tv through said accessory, but aside from the likely problems that would arise from input lag, how would that really be any different than the Wii U, which people apparently considered gimmick satan for making people use two very separated screens at once?
Even if it transmitted the bottom screen's feed up there too, you'd still have to look down at the 3DS when using any touch screen functions.
It would just be one huge clumsy mess of an attempt for many of the 3DS's games to be ported as-is to the Switch.
They'd have to rebuild all of them for single screen play, to make them work well as Switch games, and I don't think they want to invest that kind of effort...

BlackOni3126d ago

It would be different in that it would be specifically 3ds games, many of which you cannot get on the Wii U. I don't think there would need to be any rebuilding of anything, just transmitting the display to a tv, a la split screen. There are third party devices/mods you can get for your 3ds that lets you do that very thing, through a computer, then to a tv, with no lag at all called "katsukitty". It's $200, which is a very expensive mod. The point I'm making here, is that Nintendo should be providing this, not a third party software engineering group. It already exists, Nintendo just refuses to budge.

It's the same problem the vita has. We should be able to connect a controller to it directly, or play vita games on a tv, instead of buying a vita tv to do so.

wonderfulmonkeyman3125d ago (Edited 3125d ago )

That still doesn't solve the issue of games that rely heavily on the touch screen, though.
The Katsukitty thing you're mentioning still presents the same problem that people complained about with the Wii U; you gotta look down at the touch screen when playing games that use it, for the sake of accuracy.
The let's players that record those games using that device, likely aren't looking up at the TV or monitor anytime touch is required.

Again, games like Bowser's Inside Story, would not translate well to a single TV screen due to touch functions not being available when the Switch is docked.
That game, and many others, would REQUIRE a rebuild to cut out the touch functions, or for people to look down at the 3DS when using the touch screen functions if the 3DS was allowed as a controller, which most wouldn't want to do.

BlackOni3124d ago (Edited 3124d ago )

I'd be fine with having to look down at the screen every now and then. If it means I can have the functionality of the bigger screen, and be able to record/stream that, I'd be happy enough with that. I imagine not all games will have the issues you've detailed here.
**Edit** Btw... that's not me downvoting you XD
