Zelda: Breath of the Wild release date leaked?

It’s pretty much confirmed at this point that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be missing the Switch’s launch. And now, we may know when it will be released.

Hoffmann3080d ago

For me, it will be Tuesday

"Of course" M. Bison would say that!

delays over this game are starting to be annoying..
I am used to delays with Zelda games but it's frustrating everytime.
June is way too long, but even if they confirm it it's still subject to change :/

Nu3079d ago

Thank you Colonel Hoffman
This Zelda will be the best yet.

ShadowKnight3080d ago

My most anticipated game next year! Can't wait

wonderfulmonkeyman3080d ago

I'd hate to have to wait that long, but I will be patient.
Plenty of things to play in the meantime.

SoulMikeY3079d ago

Dude, these are rumors on top of rumors, nothing "pretty much confirms" shit. It'll probably be with the switch, so I wouldn't worry.

Nu3079d ago

What other console do you own?
I've got WiiU Xbox One I call it the Wiione

wonderfulmonkeyman3079d ago (Edited 3079d ago )

Altogether, I own;
Wii (Mostly for Gamecube games)
Wii U (does the Wii even count, considering Wii U's BC?XD)
3DS
PS2
PS3
PSP.

I also HAD a gaming laptop, but it stopped working on me.^^;;

If I were richer and had more time to save, I'd own everything at this point, but sadly I also just can't seem to stop impulse-buying smaller indie games and certain kinds of fast food. XD
I need to start being a bit more frugal with my money if I really want to get all the games I have my eye on...

You don't have a PC ;)

wonderfulmonkeyman3074d ago

I used to have a gaming laptop, but that's not any of your business.
Nor does it moot my point; I'll still have plenty to play in the meantime.

So the switch is launching in like March with no amazing software (announced) except for ports of games people already have and played on ps4/xbone?
Yeah...I'll hold off on the pre-order.

NotoriousWhiz3079d ago

Not sure if you knew this, but pre orders aren't available yet. And likely won't be available until at least January AFTER Nintendo finally reveals more information to include what games will be coming out for the Switch.

Hoffmann3079d ago

I am sure you knew this but yes yes you can pre-order the switch already at many gaming shops since weeks of course.

switchsigns3079d ago

There were pre orders available for the Switch while it was still called the NX.

FlyingFoxy3079d ago

Not everything has been announced yet, 1 game doesn't make a console worth buying either.

Shadowsteal3079d ago

Technically Nintendo sold two consoles this way. First the Wii U, and now they're going to release the definitive edition on the Switch.

@ Jon
Doc is right, though; the majority of PS4 owners disagree with your assessment.
Whereas with the Wii U, at this point in its life, has fewer third party multiplats, there are still plenty of other games to play on it, many arguably as good or better than Mario Kart, so no, Mario Kart isn't really the only thing to buy.

And of course Mario Kart 8 got rated less than Uncharted; MK8 is a reasonably flawed game in some areas, battle mode and lack of voice chat especially, and the fans voted with those things in mind.
But with Sony ahead in the console sales wars and in popularity, it's obvious that there will be fewer people willing to admit that one of its flagship franchises has any shortcomings.
Especially compared to a game on a system like the Wii U, which has been out longer yet is far less popular, yet still managed to get an insane attach rate for a franchise that everyone has been claiming for years is dying or already irrelevant.
The attach rate shows that MK8 was more of a system seller than Uncharted 4.
And keep in mind that both have bundles, and the PS4 is selling faster, while the Wii U is ending production soon. (at least for this year; whether they'll put out more next year for some strange reason is still up for debate)

But in either case, while I can certainly agree that there are some people that will buy a system specifically for one game, the fact is that most people prefer to have at least 3 to 5 games that they want on a system before considering a purchase.

Well if that mario game is releasing launch day we should be in good shape.

Gamefan793079d ago

Wonderful monkeyman who said Skyrim was even coming to switch, not Bethesda.

Monster_Tard3079d ago

I believe he's going by the rumors that claim that it will be a launch title. We know that that Bethesda is working with Nintendo: "We are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch."
Despite allowing Nintendo to show the game in the trailer, Bethesda didn't want to confirm it just yet, but they also didn't deny that it was coming to the switch. I'd say it would be the safe bet that the game will be there.

wonderfulmonkeyman3074d ago (Edited 3074d ago )

To be perfectly clear, those are still just rumors.
However, most rumors I've seen thus far of it, from multiple different sources, all say that it's definitely going to be a thing, and that Bethesda is under NDA for the sake of the January Direct showcase. (which seems silly considering most are convinced it's coming and won't be surprised, but Nintendo does dumb things a lot, so an unneeded NDA isn't hard to believe)

There's every possibility that it won't come to Switch, but the bigger likelihood is that it WILL, so that's the way I frame my comments regarding it, because it's been talked about enough that I have a hard time believing otherwise.

That said, much as I love the game from the bottom of my heart (aside from art style; realism usually doesn't do it for me. Yes, I'm aware that's the UN-popular opinion.XD), even I am aware that one game doesn't usually sell a system, these days, to the majority of gamers, and that a port of Skyrim isn't likely to be the third party system mover of the Switch regardless of its popularity.
I'd like to hope it will still sell loads of game copies, though, regardless of the Switch's sales.
A high attach rate can happen on a console even if the console isn't leading the gen in sales.
Just ask Mario Kart 8.

This game took too long for me to care anymore, bought a Wii U back in 2012 thanks to the Zelda tech demo it showcased back then... Just for them to change the whole graphical approach with some out dated cell shaded crap and to add insult to injury Ninty never being able to put a legit release date behind one of their supposed to be flag ship franchises.

Never investing in Nintendo again!

deafdani3079d ago

So, you bought a console because of a tech demo that never pretended to be something more than just that, a tech demo? Nintendo never stated that this was intended to be anything more than that.

Also, Zelda games get delayed all the time. Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess all saw major delays, just like Breath of the Wild here.

Yes, I agree that long delays can be pretty annoying, but if you're disappointed at your Wii U's purchase just based on a initial tech demo, you have nobody to fault except yourself.

wonderfulmonkeyman3079d ago (Edited 3079d ago )

If only digital cookies could be eaten, I'd give you a dozen for voicing my own thoughts on the matter so eloquently.

To add, though, this guy calls cell shading outdated and crappy, when it's a proven fact that art styles like Wind Waker's stand the test of time far better than older games that rely on realistic art styles, and even other games that claim to be much more core-focused and serious, like Borderlands, make use of it to enhance the visual appeal of the games.

Jon_Targaryen3079d ago

At that time It wasnt stated to be a tech demo point Dexter, only months later. You can defend your console of choice as much as you like but EVERYTHING Ninty promised the Wii U would be never materialized. The only good thing to ever come from the console was Bayonetta 2.

deafdani3078d ago (Edited 3078d ago )

@Jon_Targaryen: yes, it was stated plain and clear that it was just a tech demo at that time, actually.

Also, Nintendo delivered on the majority of their Wii U promises. The only thing they didn't deliver on was the promised third party support.

And yes, Bayo 2 was a fantastic game, but it wasn't the only good thing to come out of the console. It seems you don't like Nintendo styled games if you don't think anything else on it was good, so I wonder why the hell you bought that console in the first place.

Yup, your disappointment on the Wii U was definitely your own fault in this particular case, this much is crystal clear.

NotoriousWhiz3079d ago

Clearly, you know nothing, Jon Snow.

Dumpling3079d ago

cel shaded crap!? thats a dumb thing to say

Dixiedevil3079d ago

I did the same seeing as Nintendo rarely shows footage that far from a release date. 5 year later and 10 games worth buying and still hangin the carrot in front of our face. Done. Sold it while it's still worth something a couple weeks ago. They can suck a Windwaker from my ass. I'm done with em.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64491d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga491d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic490d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits491d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake491d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex491d ago (Edited 491d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

It isn't...
