5 steps Nintendo Switch needs to avoid the mistakes of the Wii U

"I love Nintendo, many of my fondest memories involve playing Nintendo games and I own almost every major piece of Nintendo hardware and despite it all this past console generation was the first time I didn’t buy a Nintendo home console. I can go on about why I never felt motivated to buy a Wii U despite a solid library of games but it’s important to focus in on where the Wii U went wrong and how Nintendo can avoid those mistakes with their new system."

Not have Wii in its name, so check for that.

Only thing bugging me is the recycling of games right now. Launch should feature brand new games. I believe that Skyrim, Splatoon, & MK8, have a place but it is a little underwhelming. Seems like they are hoping that everyone gets distracted by Zelda which I believe was delayed for that very purpose of making the launch seem better than it really is. But with all the delays, wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again.

Lets educate you a bit. Gamers love enhanced ports. They buy them all the time. DO not knock Nintendo for something a ton of gamers love.

3D Mario? Mario Kart? SplatooN? That already is on pace for one of the best launch libraries ever.

WickedLester3139d ago

Agreed. Plus those games were fantastic that unfortunately were put on a dying platform. They are too good not to be given the opportunity to find a new audience on a new system.

Better advertisement and less time between games, both of which they seem to be doing.
SEEM.
Time will tell, but it's off to a good start.

This system is already doing a ton right. At 250/300? Will fly off the shelves. The year 1 library is already shaping up to be legendary

It’s definitely an upgrade, not sure about massive.

Grilla2h ago

It is massive compared to the switch 1. 6-10X the power, but compared to current standards it’s the bare minimum.

RedDevils2h ago

It's just a minor upgrade nothing special. Could have included the Oled screen but greedy Nintendo have something planned for it already.

Yesyes2h ago

Oled screen means nothing when people have OLED tv's.

Rage771h ago

You are self aware of how dumb and "sheepy" that tagline of "greedy" sounds like at this point in time, right?
Every little entitled twat on the internet has used it ad nauseum, as if all of a sudden you somehow struck gold or something. it ALMOST sounds as infantile as the other meme vomit brain rot: "Defending the billion dollar company, blah, blah" FFS. tell me its "irony" at least what you are trying to express, so at least i can give you some credit for being "clever" or bold. I refuse to believe you ACTUALLY believe what you are saying, unironically,

repsahj2h ago

Great review! We have almost the same impression of the Switch 2. I don't care if the screen isn't OLED, because when I put it next to my friend's Steam OLED screen, they barely deviated in quality.

Better than the Steam Deck not as good as the other consoles on the market.

As someone who has been gaming nearly as long as gaming has been around (since the early 70's), you'd think I'd be against this. Having grown up with all the major platforms and the whole notion of physical ownership... but I'm not. i embrace this as it is a revolutionary convenience. And one i know for a fact many (especially here) have not even given the fair chance to use. I get it... i was there too. But now i have a new outlook on it. It really is a hell of an option if you just want to play with no commitments. By no means am i saying this should replace traditional gaming, its an option. And one that people should look at optimistically as a way to compliment traditional gaming. There is room for both to thrive.
