Uncharted 4 is the 2016 Game Awards' most-nominated game

2016 is winding down, and it's time for everyone to start putting together their awards lists. The Game Awards, produced and hosted by Geoff Keighley, has just released its list of nominees, and it's a pretty contentious one. Uncharted 4 leads with nominations in eight categories, while Overwatch, Inside, and Firewatch all tie for second place with five nominations.

meh. found the game to be boring, lazy and cheap. the only good production value was in the art/graphics and writing. everything else was completely laughable. from enemy variety and design to level design, music and gameplay. atmosphere was a jumbled mess due to pacing. i liked the scubadiving chap though.

rachet and clank was a much MUCH better title. R&C actually had more than one enemy design in it! which seems impossible to naughty dog. and no, having differently clothed and colored models of the same freakin thing doesnt make it a new enemy.

for a developer that likes to pretend its hollywood level artsy, it still amazes me how they waste resources on moronic things, like overly detailed freakin standing animations that youll forget in an hour, or leemurs stealing apples for an achievement.

Ratchet has aliens on different planets, of course they can have like 50 different enemy types and get away with it. Uncharted is set on earth, with humans. We only have two genders and pretty much all look the same far as head arms legs...you know I feel dumb even explaining this to you.

I have played it dummy. It's the worst game in the series. The only things it has over the originals are the animations and environments. The story is trash, they practically ruined the characters. The gameplay is so cinematic that I have trouble calling it gameplay. The puzzles and platforming are easy an uninspired. The realism and serious tone make it eye roll inducing.

@Sparta all games nominated for GOTY deserve the nominations. However, as much as I enjoyed UC4 it was the worst out of all the UC games. I personally loved UC 2 the most. Maybe Amy Hennig was missing, something was missing. Also, the mp was bad. Imo. But overall kudos for nominations. It's going to come down to Overwatch, Inside and UC4.

Just to throw my opinion in, Dishonored 2 is amazing. There's a level in the game called "The Clockwork Mansion" which has some of the most intricate and complex level design I've ever seen in a game. Think of one of the best dungeons in any zelda game, and multiply that by like 5.

It's one of those levels that even after you beat, it's so complex that you don't even know how you did it.

It really is an amazing milestone in level design. I'm not finished with the game yet, but it's just really great.

Anyone that says otherwise is probably just upset and sore over the issues that it's been having on non ps4 platforms.

The Game Awards are really wired. How can Titanfall 2 be nominated for GOTY? Its a good game but not even close to GOTY. Overwatch is a stretch, since it should have been a free2play game. Inside is the random Indie game to put in and don't look bad. But where is Darks Souls 3, Forza Horizon 3, Battlefield 1 or if we put in titanfall 2, the way better COD:IW?? Probably a bunch of good games I missed this year.

Like always the game awards are pretty much wired. Heck, best RPG of the year we can vote for deus ex (it has RPG elements) and a DLC.

Uncharted 4 is amazing but I feel that it's horribly overrated and there are games that are just as good and better that aren't even nominated in some of the categories. Sadly a MP game won't win most of the awards despite this year having some of the best MP games this gen by far (TF2, BF1 and Overwatch). Also racing games just get pushed away despite Horizon 3 being probably the best racing game ever made. Sadly the best way to win GOTY is to simply make a 8 hour movie game as for some reason people eat them up like hot cakes.

Uncharted 4 surely is a great game. Is it GOTY? Yes and No, its just not enough in terms of Gameplay for me. Story and Tech are great. But then again I don't really know what could be GOTY. DOOM would beat it in Sound, Gameplay and Fun. Titanfall would beat it in Multiplayer and Gameplay. Inside would beat it in Design and Immersion. Overwatch would beat it in Multiplayer, Gameplay and Fun.

But so many other games that are great this year are left behind because of reasons I don't really understand.

Everyone likes different types of games.

There are those who love the high quality production values and film-like gameplay of the Uncharted series, and there are those who prefer something more involved and complex.

Game of the Year will differ from person to person. When it comes to publicized awards, it's not a matter of picking the 'definitively best game' that year (which is impossible, if you ask me), it's choosing one of many games that resonated with a great crowd of people.

Uncharted 4 definitely had a huge impact this year and is deserving of a Game of the Year contender, in my mind.

The reason why uncharted is Goty award is because it's the whole package. Battlefield has awesome multiplayer but single player sucks it about 4hrs or less Same with titanfall. Horizon 3 might be a great game but would you really call a racer game of the year?

I don't actually hate Sony at all. I've loved having Sony consoles since my first one on day one when PS1 launched...I'm just not blinded or unafraid of pointing out their flaws. Sony, like every other gaming company, isn't perfect....I DO feel like this gen they are just content on riding on their early explosive lead. They are good for about one good exclusive a year...and they typically end up not being as good as the hype would have you believe. It reminds me of that old Eddie Murphy bit...like someone is starving and you hand them a Saltine and they say "god damn that is a good ass cracker, that ain't no regular saltine...what is that? A Ritz?" I think scores and hype are being driven more by nostalgia than by actual quality. Story and Visuals for UC4 were EXCELLENT, but I care mostly about gameplay...and there are EASILY 10-20 games I played this year that I enjoyed the gameplay more.

Even though you literally have done nothing but hate on uc 4 since it's release I'll respect your opinion but please quit using the played out oh its overhyped excuse. People aren't a hive mind so being technical nothing can ever be overhyped once it releases and nails it like uc 4 did. Now if before a game releases there are people calling it the greatest thing based on a 15 second trailer yeah I would say that's over hyping things but when a game releases and nails it across the board like uc 4 that's not overhype that's a studio at the top of their game delivering

Please explain how saying it's a good game is hate. If calling it "overhyped" is played out....maybe it's time to start considering if it's true or not instead of blindly defending that it's not. The people that called UC4 the GOTY before it released (like they are doing now with Horizon) are the same people refusing to say it's anything less than 10/10...the whole point is that they had their opinions made up before playing it. I REALLY liked the first 75% or so of UC4...I liked that it didn't rely too much on forced combat and provided an excellent medium for story telling and visual showcasing...but in the last 25% it kinda crapped that away...it seemed to have run out of ideas and went to forced combat scenarios (which ruined it for me)....and the story kinda fizzled a bit at the end. It's almost like if they cut off the last 25% of the game (with a fitting end of course) I would have agreed that the game was GOTY 9/10 or 10/10 quality...as it stands as a complete product...it seems closer to 8/10 for me.

The reason why Dark Souls 3 beat Uncharted is because Dark Souls has something Uncharted lacks, good gameplay. People don't want to hear it but the truth is that Uncharted is a very shallow game as far as it's mechanics go. It does shooting, melee, stealth and platforming and it does all of these below average. It's the epitome of shallow hence why it was passed up by Dark Souls 3. Mechanics are king and Uncharted is simply below average. Hence why it's multiplayer is so bad that it died out after a week because MP is based off of mechanics.

Uncharted 4 and xcom 2 on consoles were the two gems in a year of "meh". If you're a PS only gamer, you can toss rise of the tomb raider in there also from what I hear.
